This Week In Band
Branson Spring Trip: March 7-11, 2024
Here are some final reminders as we prepare for departure on Thursday.
Slides from the required trip meeting are available if you missed the meeting.
The deadline to turn in medication along with the Medication Request & Authorization Form is Tuesday, March 5th at the AHS/LFC Nurse’s office. Contact Nurse Kellie Koch (kellie.koch@allenisd.org) if you have questions.
Packing: There is a packing checklist on the Final Itinerary. Please pack accordingly:
1 Suitcase (24” or smaller) to go under the bus
1 backpack or bag to go on the bus
Instrument with case to go under the bus (or on bus for small instruments)
Student Parking: Students may park their vehicles on campus in the H-Lot (by the AHS Band Hall) provided that:
The vehicle has the proper current parking permit/sticker to park at AHS. The vehicle will be booted if the vehicle does not have the proper parking permit.
Students only park in student parking. The vehicle will be booted if the vehicle is parked in a staff parking space.
Note: If your vehicle is booted, you will be unable to free your vehicle until March 18th since we are returning to AHS during Spring Break.
If you have been assigned as a room captain, you will need to pick up keys for everyone in your room when we arrive at our hotel on Thursday. Room captains are in bold blue on the Student Roster.
If you are not on the bus when we depart at 6:00am, you will be left in Allen and will not be able to participate on the trip (with no refund).

All students are subject to the Allen ISD Code of Student Conduct when on this trip. Any infraction (behavior, possession of illegal substances, etc) of the Code of Student Conduct will have appropriate consequences. Students may be sent home at their family’s expense if necessary.

The AHS master schedule is being constructed based on our band classes. There will not be class conflicts with Dual Credit and STEAM classes. Do not assume that next year's band, Dual credit, or STEAM classes are the same class periods as this year. Please let Dr. Obado know if your name is not listed and planning on being in band next year.

2024 Leadership & Required Marching Band Events
The band staff is already preparing for the 2024 marching season. See image below for the required Spring and Summer required events.
If you are interested in trying out for drum major or SLT, we will begin our training/workshops after Spring Break. They will be held (mostly) on Wednesdays from 4:30pm-6pm in the AHS Band Hall. The first 45 minutes will be general leadership/SLT training and the second 45 minutes will be specific training for drum majors. AHS & LFC Wind Ensembles will be required to attend the first 45 minutes of the SLT workshops as part of their Musicianship Class.

If chosen as an SLT, you are required to go to all spring/summer band events and SLT training. Summer SLT training will be on the following dates:
- Thurs, May 30 (after music camp): SASI Leadersnip Training (time TBA)
- Fri, May 31: SASI Leadership training (time TBA)
- Mon, July 22: Summer Leadership Camp and Setup (time TBA)
