📚Please join us for this important information on the SBAC testing. The Smarter Balanced Assessment System utilizes computer-based tests and performance tasks that allow students to show what they know and are able to do. It is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics and has three components designed to support teaching and learning throughout the year.📚
This Month's "Meet the Staff" is our incredible Special Education Team of Educators and Paraprofessionals.
💜From Left to right: Mrs. Easiley and Mrs. Ortega, our Special Education Teachers.🧡
My name is Yolanda Easiley-Hosseinkhan. I was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. I have a bachelor's in film and a master's in education: Teaching and learning Special Education. Before coming to Dearborn, I was a LAUSD Special Education Assistant for 7 years, a tutor, and an Art Teacher in the Teen Center at the YMCA. Before that, I was an Teacher Assistant for a non-profit, Community Action Project (CAP), which helped families in a time of need in Tulsa. I’m married to my husband, Ali, who is a background designer in animation. I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, soccer, and anything related to the arts.
Hi Dearborn family, I'm Karina Ortega Reyes, I go by Ms. Ortega, and I'm the TK-2nd grade IDM Teacher. I have been working with students with special needs for 8 years now. I began as a special education assistant in the classroom before becoming a Special Education Teacher. My favorite part of the job is watching my students develop their personalities and make friendships with their peers. This is my 5th year teaching and my first year at Dearborn Elementary and with LAUSD. I graduated from California State University, Bakersfield with a Bachelor of Arts in Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies and a Master's in Special Education. I recently got engaged to my boyfriend of 6 years in December. We are looking forward to planning our wedding in the near future. My hobbies include going to the gym every morning and reading a good book every evening. I also love going to the movies on my days off mostly for the popcorn and blue raspberry slushee-yum!
My name is Iris Davila. I have been at Dearborn for seven years but I have been an educator for 15 years. I am currently the Resource Specialist and I have been on this role for two years. I have three credentials (general education, special education, and administration). I received my degrees, Bachelors and Master's from CSUN. My husband and I have 3 children, a 17-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, and a 9-year-old boy. My boys attend Dearborn, and they are in 5th and 3rd grade. We love camping and we try to camp outdoors twice a year. An interesting fact for our family is that we will have 3 graduations this year. In May, I will graduate from CSUN with my Master's in Education and my Administration Credential. My daughter will graduate from high school, and my son will culminate from 5th grade.
Our fantastic Special Education paraprofessional team from Left to right:
Hello Dearborn Dolphins. My name is Mrs. Wild. I work alongside Mrs. Davila in room 17. I
teachers who have come and gone. I have worked in every classroom on campus
throughout these years. Dearborn is a special place for me, not only because I have been
here for so long, but because my children have also attended Dearborn.
Some of my favorite pastimes are visiting museums, galleries, attending live music venues,
and finding hidden eateries all over the city of L.A. My favorite hobby is spoiling my first
granddaughter, Sylvia Rose. She is the joy of my life
Hello, I’m Vicente Jr. Pado "Mr. Jun", married and blessed with two kids; a twelve year old son and a seven year old daughter. My wife is a Special Education teacher in LAUSD. Her stories about the challenging yet fulfilling experiences with her students inspire me to join the special education team. As a paraprofessional, I started in Dearborn last school year. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts major in Painting, from the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines -Diliman. After graduation, I worked as an Art Director/Production Designer for films produced by both independent and major outfits. I also had two one-man shows in the Philippines; “Terra Mater”(2011) and “Gulong”(2014). I’m a Visual Artist by profession; a painter and a tattoo artist.
Hello, I’m Ms. Ana, SPED Assistant, from room 22. I’m fairly new to DECA. We have an amazing and supportive team. Working in special education is challenging, but very rewarding. I see my connection with our students, which motivates me to come every day with a smile. It’s amazing to see our students grow every day. I’m a CSUN graduate with a Bachelor of Art, in Art. I’ve worked in different art programs with at-risk youth. I have two beautiful daughters, a 15 and a 18-year-old. During their elementary years, I volunteered at their school in the classroom supporting the teacher with art projects and in school events. I’ve always had the passion to help and support our students and teachers. My favorite part of the day is when I spend a few minutes for myself. I like spending time outdoors with my family. I meditate every day, I love to read and paint with my daughters.
Hello, My name is Jessica Resendez. I have been married for 41 years. We have two adult children: a son and daughter. They are both married. I enjoy the outdoors, going to the movies, traveling, and adventure to different places, dancing, singing karaoke and spending time with family and friends. We love spending time with our granddaughter and taking her to different places. I have been working for LAUSD for 26 years. I am very grateful for this opportunity. At the same time, I am thankful to all the teachers who have helped me along the way.
Having raised two kids of my own, I have always enjoyed working with students, and seeing first-hand, how they grow and learn.
My name is Lizett Ceyca, I am a Mom of two boys. This is my first year with the district as a special education assistant. I have learned so much from our kiddos, everyday is a new adventure. I’m proud to be part of such a great team. I enjoy playing soccer on my time off and being a soccer mom. Our family vacations in the summer and winter break are what I look forward to the most.
My name is Sharrel Jan Narsico. My team calls me Jan, and occasionally, Lil’ J. I’m a simple person—I see good food and everything is immediately better. My favorites are chocolates, cookies, and ice cream because I used to work in an ice cream store that combined them into one delicious snack. Recently, I’ve come to adore Frankie’s soup—it made my mouth water, and my goodness, the smell was divine. Ah, what a blessing it is to be alive to eat all the wonderful treats the world has to offer.

Los Angeles Unified Schools to observe April 24 in recognition of the Armenian Genocide
Los Angeles Unified community will have the day off to honor those lost in the first modern genocide “It is essential that Los Angeles Unified joins in recognizing April 24 as the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide of 1915,” co-sponsor of the resolution Board Member Scott M. Schmerelson said. “We must ensure that our students learn the truth about the Armenian Genocide and how they can prevent such atrocities against humanity from occurring ever again. This date has become very important in our nation and I whole-heartedly support Los Angeles Unified taking the extra step to designate April 24 as an unassigned day so that our students and families can participate in remembrances and events that are significant to their family, culture, and history.”
