Magic of Books
Tommy's "MAGIC of Books" program is second to none as he promotes READING and BOOKS in this 45 minute magic show that inspires children to turn OFF their televisions and video games and turn ON to the THRILL OF READING!
Today the children witnessed how reading inspires imagination as some very popular story books come to life. THE VELVETEEN RABBIT, THE SECRET GARDEN & CHARLOTTE'S WEB are a few of the books utilized in this exciting educational performance of fun and laughter! Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this great program
A great big thank you to the PTO for our new basketball hoop!!
Outside Learning Time
This week, Ms. Sharkey and Miss Sheehan’s grade 2 classes observed the different ways that water can change land through erosion. Enjoying the beautiful weather, both classes observed how the rain water eroded some of the land in the courtyard outside their classrooms and learned about different kinds of short term and long term erosion!

School Is Where You Belong!
We have seen a significant increase in student absences this year. Being chronically absent (10% of school year) can have a significant impact on a student's academic progress and their ability to access the variety of academic and non-academic supports that schools provide. Please reach out to the school if you would like support in getting your students to school!
School Start Time~8:30
As educators, we understand the many demands and challenges of managing a busy household and getting your child ready for school each morning. However, I want to take a moment to emphasize the critical importance of punctuality, particularly for our youngest learners.
Arriving on time for school sets the tone for a successful day of learning and growth. Here are several reasons why punctuality is essential for young children:
1. Establishing Routine: Consistent attendance and punctuality help children establish healthy routines. When children arrive on time each day, they become accustomed to the structure of the school day, which promotes a sense of security and stability.
2. Maximizing Learning Opportunities: Every minute of instructional time is valuable. When children arrive late, they miss out on essential instruction, class discussions, and collaborative activities. Punctuality ensures that your child has ample time to engage with the curriculum and make the most of their learning experiences.
3. Building Responsibility and Time Management Skills: Punctuality teaches children the importance of responsibility and time management. By arriving on time, children learn to prioritize their commitments and understand the consequences of being late. These skills are fundamental for success both in school and later in life.
4. Fostering Positive Relationships: Being on time demonstrates respect for others' time and commitments. It also fosters positive relationships with teachers and classmates. Punctual students contribute to a positive classroom environment and help create a sense of community and teamwork.
5. Reducing Stress and Anxiety: Late arrivals can disrupt the flow of the school day and cause unnecessary stress for children. By arriving on time, children feel more relaxed and prepared to engage in learning activities, leading to a more positive and productive educational experience.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise from time to time, but we encourage you to prioritize punctuality whenever possible. As a reminder, we do offer before school care through our Surround Care Program. Information can be found below and on the District's webpage.

RLM Student Council
Our Student Council members are hard at work getting many projects up and running. They are hosting their very first school-wide Math Madness Challenge. On Fridays of each week in March, students with take a fact challenge that is appropriate for their grade level. StuCo members will collect, correct, and tally scores to keep track of student progress. We cannot wait to see what our students will achieve! StuCo members have also compiled information and wishlists to partner with our Food Service Department in the building of school gardens. Finally, our student leaders are organizing, fundraisers and collections for both the food pantry and causes to support local kids in need. Information on those endeavors will be out later this month or in April.
