Sward e-Learning Information
January 12, 2024
Dear Sward Families,
Good morning and welcome to Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123’s e-Learning Day. You will receive an opening email from your child's teacher within the next 30 minutes that will let you and your child know what they will be doing today.
Our e-Learning day is from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Questions that you have for your teacher will be answered within one hour as he or she may not be on the computer right when you ask a question. Whether or not your children have Art, Music or Library today, they will have at least 30 minutes of work from those teachers in addition to PE.
There will be 300 minutes of work planned for your child. There is no live instruction expectation on these days. Your child may finish quicker or take a bit longer on their independent work as the listed are estimates. In general, this will be the schedule:
180 minutes of core activities (ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies) - 45 minutes each
120 minutes of encore activities (PE, Music, Art, and Media Center) - 30 minutes each
Attendance will be taken and all students will initially be marked as present. However, if your child has not turned in their assignments by January 18, he or she will be marked absent for the day. Remember that e-Learning days do not need to be made up at the end of the year which is why there is 5 hours of learning expected. The assignments should be able to be completed on their own and may not be as rigorous as in school, when a teacher is there to assist.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Suzanne Amra
