THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK
April 26, 2024
Dear Wasco Families,
On Monday, the PTO sponsored a field trip for fifth grade, and a Planetarium was set up in our gym. After the trip I asked the fifth graders to share their thoughts about the experience.
Gavin Sharkey- I didn't think I wanted to go in the Starlab but I loved it. It felt like I was under the night sky and in outer space. One thing I learned that I didn't know before was that Polaris starts at the tip of the Little Dipper.
Connor Tapp and Gavin Livingston- We loved having Starlab Planetarium come to Wasco. The lady told us a lot of things we didn't know like some of the animals from the constellations and zodiacs. She also showed us lots of some of the Constellations and the Zodiac signs we learned in Mrs. Heinz class. We didn't know that there are some constellations that can't be seen from this part of the world.
Alana B.- It was super cool! I was thankful for the opportunity to have a planetarium come right to Wasco. I am REALLY into the Zodiac anyway so to see the constellations that matched that was so cool. Something I learned is more about Saturn and how the rings were formed by a moon that smashed into it and broke apart into space rock and dust and debris.
Mrs. Heinz- Our whole class would like to thank our PTO for always supporting the teachers and most importantly THE STUDENTS. Our PTO helps provide the extra special events that enhance learning and make learning more fun! Thanks Again!
Kind Regards,
Principal Brennan

Third Grade News
Third graders presented their Expert Projects last week. They started with a topic that they were curious about, came up with three questions and then researched to become an expert on the topic. They wrote essays and then presented them to their class using notecards and visual displays! We learned about dragons, Japan, computers, gems, flight and so much more!
The ABC Challenge
What is it?
The ABC Challenge is a way to continue to encourage and celebrate learning as we wrap our year up. Each day is a theme related to a letter of the alphabet. The theme can be an activity, a focus for the day, or a dress-up day.
When does it start?
We will start with the letter A next Tuesday, April 23. There is a day set aside after "Z" to wear Wasco or Thompson wear on the last day.
April 29 - May 2
It's almost book fair time! The Scholastic book fair will run from April 29th-May 2nd during the school day. We are looking for volunteers to help during the fair. If you are able to donate some of your time, please use the sign-up-genius link below to select a time slot. We really appreciate all your help!!
