Bonham Lady Warrior Athletics
April 2024 Report
Athletic Director Notes:
Spring Post-Season has begun...
This is my personal favorite time of the athletic year. Spring post-season has begun for some while others are preparing for a strong finish in order to qualify. Yes, spring practices kicked off in January, but as I was reminding our track girls just the other day, this journey began back in June with summer strength and conditioning. And for our seniors, it began four years ago (six years counting Jr. High). Track is up first, and we feel strongly that there will be others to follow in the coming weeks.
TRACK UPDATE: WARRIOR RELAYS CHAMPS & AREA QUALIFIERS
One of the longest standing traditions in Bonham Athletics is the annual running of the Warrior Relays track meet. This year's meet took place on March 28th and hosted teams from Blue Ridge, Tom Bean, S&S, Wolfe City, Sam Rayburn, and Texoma Christian Academy. In my 30+ years involvement with this event, it was one of the most efficient and successful meets that we've had here.

AREA QUALIFIERS:
At the district meet in Pottsboro, we had 16 qualifications for advancement to the post-season. We are so proud of these kids and look forward to seeing them represent BHS at the Area Meet in Emory. Qualifiers from the Area Meet will advance to the Regional Meet in Whitehouse with a chance to go to state on the line.
SOFTBALL UPDATE
As of 4/9, here's how the district standings look:
Gunter 7-2
Blue Ridge 6-2
Bells 6-2
Bonham 6-3
Howe 3-6
Leonard 1-7
Pottsboro 1-8
With 3 district games remaining on our schedule, only one game separates the top 4 teams. As you may remember, last year the district finished in a 4-way tie and had to play extra games to determine the district championship. We won a share of that trophy.
GOLF AND TENNIS UPDATES:
Our tennis program has 6 home tournaments under their belt, with 4 remaining before the District Tournament to be held in Princeton on April 22-23.

BHS GOLF:
Our golfers have been playing weekly in area tournaments to prepare for district play, which took place in Sherman on Monday. Unfortunately, none of our players qualified for regionals, but with the youth involved in this program, we look forward to much success in the following years.

BHS offers "INTRO. TO TENNIS AND SOCCER"
Coach Madison Norman (Soccer) and Coach Kirstin Bockman (Tennis) have begun introductory sessions & games to Jr. High students interested in playing tennis and/or soccer when they enter high school. It's great exposure for our young student/athletes to learn the pace, terminology, and coaches' expectations of these sports. About a dozen kids showed up for tennis and 30+ kids showed up for soccer. This is also a good opportunity for the coaches to see faces, learn names, and see skill levels prior to those students entering high school.
JR. HIGH DISTRICT TRACK RESULTS
Our Jr. High track teams wrapped up a very successful season with their district meet at Gunter. Here are the team results. I am extremely excited about welcoming these kids to our high school track team!
7TH GIRLS - 3RD (109 PTS.)
8TH GIRLS - DISTRICT RUNNER-UP (115 PTS.)
7TH BOYS - 3RD (83 PTS.)
8TH BOYS - 4TH (101.5 PTS.)
