Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Thank you to all of the families who attended a Parent Teacher Conference. Your consistent engagement is much appreciated.

Enrollment season is quickly approaching. This is a great time to start gathering all of your needed documents for a seamless enrollment process. Please be mindful that reenrolling by early April will significantly support maintaining small classroom sizes. More information is shared below. There has been several updates to the district process.

Last Day of School Notification from DCPS

Given the additional instructional hours built into the school year calendar, DCPS will not have to extend the school year for SY 23-24 to accommodate snow closures. The last day of school for students will remain Monday, June 17 and the last day for teachers, a Records/PD Day will remain Tuesday, June 18.

Hyde-Addison Elementary School

The Howard University Verizon Innovative Learning Program is a free, 3-week summer program focusing on STEM education. I invite your students and families to consider enrolling in our program, which runs from June 24 to July 12 at Howard University.

Chisholm Elementary (formerly known as Tyler Elementary) is excited to host an inaugural Community Ca$h Conference on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The "College Gurl," Jessica Brown, will open the event! Then, participants will explore empowering personal finance sessions about budgeting, buying a home, & more! Free childcare and free lunch will be provided to registered participants. Registration is open now at this link.

Neighbors on O St. have requested that families do not park their cars in the alleyways that prevent them from exiting their driveways.

Please be reminded to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to inform the team of your child's absence, in order for it to be excused. If your child has a communicable illness, like strep throat, RSV, pink eye, or lice, please also include that information.

We wanted to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the numerous ways the Hyde community showed up for The Five Gala, held on Saturday, March 9. The proceeds, over $40,000!, will go directly to the school to help bridge the gap between the funds provided by DCPS and the school's operating budget and cover things like curriculum materials and professional development for our amazing teachers.

Whether you joined the weekly planning meetings, solicited items from businesses or contributed to class baskets, helped with the video, purchased tickets and bid on items at the event, and/or assisted before, during and after, we're incredibly grateful for your support. A special shout out to Mr. C who MC'd the event and to the teachers who attended and have given their time for teacher experiences.

We are especially grateful to Nancy Taylor Bubes and Cailin Monahan of Washington Fine Properties for their Diamond Level sponsorship of the event in addition to the Washington Center for Dentistry and Grosvenor for their Gold Level sponsorship. The support of our sponsors was central to the success of the event.

School ends at 3:25pm and students are late being picked up after 3:30pm. Please be reminded that early dismissal ends at 2:50pm and we must clear the field for aftercare students to use.
