Leadership changes at the West Sound Technical Skills Center for 2024-25

Dear West Sound Technical Skills Center students and families:

We’ve got an important update for our West Sound Technical Skills Center (WST) students and families.

After serving as WST Director for the past 10 years, Ms. Shani Watkins has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), an organization for which she’s served in various leadership roles over the years. ACTE works to empower educators to deliver high quality CTE programs that ensure all students are positioned for career success. This is an exciting opportunity for Ms. Watkins where she’ll have an opportunity to support Career & Technical Education (CTE) throughout the United States. We want to congratulate her on her new chapter and wish her the best.

Ryan Nickels named Bremerton High School Principal

We are pleased to announce that Bremerton High School Principal Mr. Ryan Nickels has accepted the position of WST Director, effective for the 2024-25 school year.

Mr. Nickels has been with the Bremerton School District for 23 years and was named principal at BHS in 2021. CTE is Mr. Nickel’s passion. He started his career in television production before teaching media production at Mountain View Middle School and Bremerton High School.

WST staff and students will have the opportunity to meet and learn more about Mr. Nickels in the coming months as we begin this leadership transition.
