Spring Term 2, Week 2
A Word from Mr Broom
What a week! A hugely successful one too. We were informed yesterday that the attendance of pupils at Appleton Roebuck Primary School is in the top 10% nationally and in the top 10% for similar sized schools. A great achievement by everyone. Thank you for your continued support. Two certificates I will be sharing with any potential visitors (Ofsted) if they ever come!
I visited Towton Battlefield on Wednesday with Mr Snowden's class. The children were treated to a guided tour by a local historian, Chris. Chris commented that he conducts many historical talks to school children around the area and was blown away by the excellent attitude and enthusiasm of our children. That's our Y5/6 children modelling our school values to the max!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

World Book Day - 6th March
We are starting to look ahead to World Book Day, which we will celebrate in school on Wednesday 6th March with a whole range of exciting activities. I wanted to give you advanced notice about some of the interesting reading opportunities we have planned.
· Dress up as your favourite character or wear your comfy clothes/PJs to come to school.
· Parents are invited into class to come and share a book with their child 8:30-9am. This might be a favourite book from home or a book from our reading areas in school.
· During the day children will have the opportunity to share their love of reading with pupils from different classes.
We cannot wait to see the amazing reading adventures you get up on this day and share our love of reading as a whole school community.
Thank you for your support with these exciting activities.

Car Convos!
Talk is really important for all learners in school and we know that our children are exposed to lots of exciting learning opportunities, both at home and at school. To help develop speaking and listening skills and knowledge of the wider world, we're introducing Car Convos! A topic that we share in the newsletter on a Friday, that families can discuss in the car on their travels. We'll then pick this up after the weekend.
This week in school, we've talked about how we learn best. This can be by doing, watching or listening. Our Car Convo this week therefore aims to build on this.
This week's Car Convo:
How do you learn best? What helps to remember things?

Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday 7th March.
