An Update from the Superintendent's Office - March 2024

As we step into the month of March, we're filled with a sense of renewal and anticipation for the exciting events and opportunities ahead. Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes a burst of energy and activity within our school community.

In this edition of our newsletter, we'll be highlighting upcoming events, celebrating student achievements, and sharing important reminders to keep you informed and engaged. From academic achievements to extracurricular adventures, there's much to look forward to as we continue our journey through the school year.

Daycare Opportunity

Our district is researching the need for daycare in our area. If you have a need for daycare now or in the coming months, please complete the survey immediately. While we have discussed the idea of temporarily housing a daycare in the school facilities, we are simply researching and have not made any decisions as to whether or not this will be feasible for our district. It is important to note that in the event that we do utilize a classroom for daycare, this is only a temporary fix as our hope is to find a different location for a long term solution to our daycare needs. In addition, the daycare would not be the responsibility of the school as we would simply lease out the space to a licensed child care provider. If you know of anyone that is interested in running a family ("In Home") daycare, please encourage them to reach out to Mrs. Bland. Again, there have been no decisions made at this time and any plans would only be temporary.

OCKD Earn Runner-Up in Class C2 Hip Hop

The Lady Knights Dance team brought home the Class C2 State Runner-Up trophy in hip hop after a flawless performance in Grand Island. We are extremely proud of their hard work and we congratulate them on a fantastic season.

Loftis & Brands bring home medals from State Wrestling

JT Brands, Keyton Kampa, Ben Loftis, and Dom Richter represented Oakland-Craig at the NSAA State Wrestling Tournament! Brands brought home a 6th place medal and Loftis came home with 4th. Congratulations on a great season boys!

Lady Knights Qualify for State

Congratulations to the Oakland-Craig Lady Knights on qualifying for the state basketball tournament! The effort and fight they displayed throughout the season is admirable and we are proud of their accomplishments this season!

Will we make up any snow days?

The Board of Education has determined that at this time we are not planning to make any changes to our calendar for the 2023-2024 school year as a result of weather related cancellations. In the event that we have additional closures due to weather, we will re-evaluate and likely adjust the calendar to make up lost instructional time. At this time; however, we are not making any changes to the 2023-2024 calendar.

Trivia Night

The Oakland-Craig Public School Foundation will be hosting the second annual Trivia Night on Friday, April 12. We will be sharing more information via social media in the near future.
