The Tigard Library is currently displaying artwork from Byrom!!!
The students at Byrom Elementary learned about the local sculptural artist, Shelly Durica-Laiche of Indio Metal Arts. The students then use recycled materials, as well as hammers, pliers, wire and found objects to create their own sculptural artwork. (These are just fantastic!)

Greetings from your TAG specialists!
Each month we are going to be doing a mini dive into one aspect of giftedness. We hope to provide you with helpful tips on how to make your gifted child feel most successful in and out of the classroom.
This month we are going to be looking at perfectionism. There are healthy and unhealthy behaviors gifted children may or may not demonstrate if they are a perfectionist (not all gifted students fall under the perfectionist category). Some positive behaviors include high levels of achievement, self-confidence, and/or motivation. However, unhealthy perfectionistic behaviors may include risk-avoidance, procrastination, and stress. When looking at the characteristics of gifted students, we want to support them in the best way possible. If you happen to have a gifted child who displays qualities of a perfectionist, the table below breaks down some of the profiles of perfectionists and some interventions that can be used to help them work through some of their unique barriers.
Tag Community Meeting on March 12th via Zoom
TTSD TAG parents and guardians are invited to a community meeting originally planned for January 23 but now will be held March 12 from 6-7PM via Zoom. TAG specialists and administrators look forward to sharing information regarding how students are served who have qualified for Talented and Gifted Services in TTSD, profiles of giftedness, and information regarding the social and emotional needs of TAG students. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of our presentation. This meeting will be recorded and will be posted on our TTSD TAG website for future viewing.

Help Bridge the Gaps
"Help Bridge the Gaps" with a donation to the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools' annual Fund Drive. Your gift funds the School Grants that are annually awarded to our 17 schools, to fund vital part-time teaching staff that the state budget can't afford. These part-time teachers bridge gaps when they facilitate math & reading small groups, after school activities, language assistance, mental health support, and so much more! Find out more and donate at http://tinyurl.com/bridgethegaps2024.

School-Based Therapists treat mental health conditions which can include depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or substance use issues.
Services are billed through OHP and most insurance plans.
LifeStance Health serves all TTSD students K-12 out of two locations:
Tigard High School

Volunteering
Volunteer process:
We are very fortunate to have wonderful community members and families that want to be part of our students' education by volunteering! With that comes the responsibility of making sure our schools and students are safe at all times.
Anyone seeking to be a volunteer for our schools and or buildings needs to be background checked and offered the vector training. If a community member and or parent wants to volunteer, they have to go through the volunteer process and be cleared before doing so.
Volunteers and after school events
The volunteer process must be followed if the person will be interacting with our students. Whether the volunteering will take place during school or after school, the parent/community member must undergo the volunteer requirements as outlined on our website. This includes all school and or PTO/PSO sponsored events.
Visitors and after school or PTO/PSO sponsored events
Visitors to these events do not need to be background checked and go through the volunteer process as they are not expected to have interaction with students. Adults that come as visitors to after school events are only expected to supervise the children/students that accompany them.
Covid Vaccine Cards are no longer required!
