We are well on our way through March - and what a BUSY month it is. Be sure to stay on top of all the happenings, so you don't miss out on anything.

First up, report cards will be published on Wednesday in the ASPEN portal. It is important that you are able to access them. If you need support with this, please reach out. The teachers have done a great job summarizing each of your child's strengths and areas of focus. It is amazing to see all the ways they kids grow from term to term.

Wednesday night at the PTO meeting, Kim Janssen - the district Instructional Technology Coordinator - will be joining the meeting to share in a discussion with parents around the use of ROOMS. In order to make productive changes so it is easier to use, we need to hear from those directly using it. Several of you indicated that you would be willing to participate in a discussion, so hopefully you are able to make it Wednesday at 6:00PM.

Thank you to ALL the parents who filled out the family survey. We have about 180 responses, which is about 55%. We will be completing our final push and then will close out the survey. Stay tuned for trends and patterns.

Next week, the Spring bookfair comes to Studley. It is always an exciting time for our students. Students will visit the bookfair during their Library Media Center block. Those who forget money will have an opportunity to go during make up times.

This Friday is an EARLY RELEASE DAY with a 12:25PM dismissal. We will also be having a GREEN spirit day - so bring out the GREEN to kick off St. Patrick's Day weekend.

We had some fun last week sharing our love for reading. Every class had a Mystery Reader. It was an engaging event where students saw former teachers, future teachers, staff in disguise, etc. We look forward to growing this week in the future...

A Night to Discover is HERE! On Thursday, you are all invited to attend this community event at Attleboro High School. We will have some students representing their work at this event. If your child was invited to participate, you would have heard directly from us. ALL are invited to this event, so come support and represent STUDLEY! Students are encouraged to wear Studley wear to show school pride!

Please note - you can enter this event through the front and back main doors of AHS.

March Madness is HERE! For the next three weeks, classes will compete to earn the most points. Each week, classes have the opportunity to earn up to 50 points by participating in a variety of tasks (see the class board below). This year, we are adding a home piece. All students will be bringing home a choice board (see below). Students will have to complete FOUR tasks (one from each category) and return their menu board. Students do NOT have to return their actual work - just the board. Obviously students range from K-4, so we ask that they put in their best effort on the task. Our goal is to involve families in our March Madness without it being a huge lift. As always, feedback is welcome!

Given the one snow day we had this year (and assuming we are done with SNOW), the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for grades 1-4 will be Friday, June 14th. It will be an early release with a 12:25 Dismissal. We will also be holding our Grade 4 Step Up Ceremony on this day. It will be around 10:00AM and will last about an hour. The last Day of school fror kindergarten will still be Wednesday, June 5th.

Dates:

June 5th - Last Day for Kindergarten

June 14th - Last Day for Grades 1-4 (Early Release)

June 14th - Grade 4 Step Up Ceremony

Morning Drop-off:

• Always drive up as far as possible before stopping to let kids out.

• Students should exit their car on the sidewalk side and walk to school as soon as traffic comes to a stop and the school is in sight. This means that they will sometimes be walking on the sidewalk next to the field. (They can do it!)

• Drive with caution. Refrain from u-turns. Follow direction from staff.

• NEVER exit on the driver’s side on Rathbun Willard drive. Students should exit the passenger side whenever possible.

• Adults should remain in the car. Students should exit the car independently.

• When it's raining, students should wait until their car is in the loop to exit.

  
  

Afternoon Pick-up:

• Stay in line unless told to pass by staff.

• Refrain from using cell phones.

• Adults should remain in the car. Students should be able to open and close their door. Staff are available to assist students who are not yet tall or strong enough.

• If extra time for buckling is needed, please use the parking lane in front of the school.

• This allows us to keep the line moving at an efficient pace while providing a safe space for those who need additional time. We have experienced large backups when multiple cards need extra time.
  

• When you use the parking lane, you may take as long as you like and we can continue our dismissal process.

How can you help?

• Encourage students to gather their belongings and be ready to exit BEFORE the cars come to a stop.

• Practice getting in and out of the car, including opening and closing the door.

• Practice putting seatbelts on and taking them off.

• Keep pace with the flow of traffic (just like the drive thru at Dunkies).

We thank you for your continued support with making our drop-off and pick-up procedures run smooth, efficient, and safe.

We continue to collect information from our family survey in the hopes of gathering data from all of you to help improve our school community. We are aiming for 100% participation because ALL voices matter. We know there are things we can do better, and we are always looking to improve. Please take some time to fill out the survey below. We will be communicating a lot about this, because it is extremely important to us.

Please see the flyer below from our student council. They are collecting eye glasses for the Attleboro Lions Club.

The YMCA is participating in the annual Spin-a-thon on April 6th. This year, there is a team called Spinnin' for Swimmin. This team is focused on raising money for our Attleboro second grade students and the swim program. If you would like to see this program continue and are able to donate, they would be incredibly grateful. They Y has been an amazing community partner for our students.

Please consider joining us on March 13th for our PTO Meeting. Kim Janssen, our K-12 Education Technology Coordinator, will be present to engage in discussion about ROOMS. We are interested in hearing feedback from users. What is working well? What ways can the usability be improved? Come share your thoughts in a productive dialogue.

Any resident of Attleboro or student attending the Attleboro Public Schools (through a guardian) can access the William James College INTERFACE Referral Service. The INTERFACE Helpline helps individuals in subscribing communities become connected with outpatient mental health and wellness resources.

Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health recommends the following guidelines to keep children home from school:

• Fever: Temperature of 100.0 or greater - Your child must stay home for 24 hours after the fever has dropped and no fever reducing medication has been given in a 24 hour span of time.
• Diarrhea: Your child must stay home until there is no more diarrhea for 24 hours.
• Vomiting: Your child must stay home until vomiting has stopped for at least 24 hours.
• Cold symptoms: Frequent cough, runny nose, sneezing (not necessarily associated with a fever)-Please test for COVID 19. If negative, please use your best judgment when sending your child to school. If positive, please call the health office.
• Remind your child to cough or sneeze into elbow and not into hands. Encourage frequent hand washing.
• Contagious illnesses: (such as Strep throat* or conjunctivitis), Your child needs to have taken at least 24 hours of prescribed medication before coming back to school.
• Rashes: Rashes need to be evaluated by a doctor to determine cause and treatment

* According to the Centers for Disease Control, the symptoms of strep may include:

• Fever (100.0 or higher)
• Sore throat with or without swollen, red tonsils
• Difficulty swallowing
• Headache, when combined with sore throat
• Stomachache, when combined with sore throat
• Body aches

(It is important to note that not all sore throats are caused by strep throat, and a lab test is needed to confirm a strep infection.)

We understand the difficulties that arise when keeping your child at home, but we urge you to prioritize their health and safety. With your cooperation, we can create a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

We could always use clothing donations in the health office. Maybe you have done some new year's cleaning and organizing and have some items to donate.

The following items are always welcome and very much appreciated:

• Pants---sweatpants, leggings or elastic waist pants are preferred because they can fit many sizes and body types
  
• New unused underwear (especially boys) any sizes
  

**If your child needed to borrow an item, please wash and return (besides underwear-you can keep

those) as soon possible so they are available for other students to use.

As you know, our school day starts at 8:30AM. This means there are no staff members on duty to supervise students until 8:30AM. Several students are leaving their cars before 8:30AM to play. If you are allowing your child(ren) to leave your car and play before school, they must be supervised. Students cannot leave that area and go to the side or back of the building where they would be unsupervised. Thank you for your attention to this.

Michelle Christopher, a Studley staff member, is also our Community Resource and Support Liaison. If you ever find yourself needing supports but do not know where to turn, she can help. Her role is to connect families with community resources that you may not know are even available.
