Dear Parents/Carers,

It feels like there has been such a lot happening in school recently with so many events!

Last Friday, it was wonderful to see so many Mums and Grand Mums attend our special ‘Mother’s Day’ afternoon for our youngest pupils. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed icing their buns and having family members in school. It has also been lovely to see so many parents attend our assembly/book look afternoons. I hope you are as proud as I am of the learning and confidence at being able to talk through their learning to others. Next week, I look forward to seeing parents from our oldest children in Year 5 and 6.

A few Memorable Moments A few Memorable Moments

This week I have been supporting our Year 6 pupils as they completed some assessments in preparation for their Sats. All pupils displayed a wealth of resilience and independence and showed high levels of maturity. Well done to all Year 6.

Today, I was visited by two Year 1 pupils who came to show me their writing. They are compiling letters to a character in their class text and they were amazing! Well done to Freya and Georgia! You are certainly getting ready for Year 2! Super writing!

Litter Pick

This week, our Eco Team have been busy litter picking around school and some of the nearby streets. Their enthusiasm for doing this job is infectious. Next week, weather permitting, we plan to walk up to the Barracks Field and continue our work there.

Science Week

This week has been National Science Week and to celebrate everything Science, we have had a full week of investigation and experiment. Some classes have been investigating different methods for setting jelly, making shadow puppets to reflect on a wall and bridges to support a car. Others have been making pendulum timers, water clocks and creating time travel-themed coding projects. There was so much fun and excitement everywhere and lots of super learning!

Comic Relief/Red Nose Day

Today, to support Red Nose Day, the children came dressed in red and brought buns to sell at playtime. The pupil donation of £1 for non-uniform and takings from the bun sale will be sent directly to the charity. Thank you to all parents/carers who kindly sent in the buns to sell. Well done to our Junior Leadership Team who organised the bun sale, sold the buns and tidied up afterwards taking their responsibilities very seriously!

Womens History Month Womens History Month

March is Women's History Month and to celebrate this we are asking children to create a video of themselves talking about a woman who inspires them. This may be someone historical or someone from their lives currently. We would love to hear about the impact this person has had on your child's life and the world.

Videos can be any length and need to be sent to admin@larkshill.patrust.org.uk by the Tuesday 18th March 2024. We will then have an assembly showcasing our achievements.
