Superintendent Communication

Dear NSSEO Families,

It seems as though the ‘groundhog’ may have been right about an early spring, in that we have enjoyed many more days outside during February and early March than we typically do! It has been great seeing our students enjoying the weather both on our playgrounds and at Sunrise Camp during these early beautiful weather days before our ‘official’ spring break begins on Monday, March 25th.

We have LOTS going on before spring break though!! This month at our NSSEO Governing Board meeting, we showcased our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program and honored their student, fifth grader Kitana E, from District 63, who attends Riley Elementary School as our NSSEO Shining Star. Details will be provided in the March Governing Board Briefs communication. Congratulations Kitana!

Please note the following:

• At the Governing Board meeting, the board approved the 24-25 School Year Calendar which is available on the NSSEO Website.

• As shared in last months, Superintendent's Communication, Extended School Year (ESY) is anticipated to start on June 10th and will convene Monday thru Friday through June 28th, with the exception of June 19th, in recognition of Juneteenth. We are currently referencing the start date of June 10th as anticipated as in the event we have ‘more’ than two more emergency days, we may have to make adjustments.

• We hope that you will consider supporting NSSEO by attending our Bingo Night fundraiser at the Ale House, Arlington Heights, on March 13th at 7 pm.

• The first day of Spring Break is Monday, March 25th. Students return to school on Tuesday April 2nd.
