RC3 News

Brandy Stoudenmire has been working with Fire and Emergency Services Academy students since August 2023. She has been a welcomed addition to the Fire Academy faculty. She has over 22 years working in the fire service, with 6 of those years working for the City of Hoover. She is currently working at Station 2 at the Preserve and Patton Chapel. She has also worked with Pell City, Shelby 911, and Montevallo. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors.

I am a 2022 graduate of the Cyber Innovation Academy at RC3. I joined the US Marines and graduated boot camp on February 2nd in Paris Island, SC. In the next couple weeks, I will be going to Camp Geiger, NC to train in logistics. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to participate in the HHS JROTC, which physically prepare for boot camp. I am also grateful for the RC3 cyber instructors that prepared me for a career in information technology.

2024-2025 FAFSA is open! (studentaid.gov) As per Federal Student Aid, "The FAFSA form is available for short periods of time while they monitor the site performance and update the form to provide you with a better experience."

FSA ID Creation for Individuals Without Social Security:

FSA also released an announcement describing the process of how to obtain an FSA ID for individuals without Social Security Number. In short, if a person is unable to verify their identity through the TransUnion process, they will have to submit unexpired copies of the documents below and an attestation via email to

IDVerification@ed.gov.

One of the following:

• U.S. Driver’s License
• U.S. State/City Identification Card
• Foreign Passport

Or

One (1) set of documents below:

• Municipal Identification Cards + utility bill
• Community ID + utility bill
• Consular Identification Cards/Matricula Consular + utility bill

College Counts helps Alabama students pay for college by offering scholarship awards. Award amounts of $4000 for four-year college enrollees and $2000 for two-year college enrollees are available. The application deadline is February 29, 2024 at 11:59pm. Please see the attached flyer for more information regarding the application process.

Description: "Buckets of Smiles is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 2017. The organization delivers hospital-approved activity items to childhood cancer patients in hospitals across the country as well as fundraisers for childhood cancer research. This scholarship is to be awarded to a childhood cancer survivor who is a senior at a high school in the state of Alabama and will be attending a college or university. RC3 Attendance Policy - Review the attendance policy by clicking HERE

If the student will not attend for any reason on a scheduled attendance day, the student is required to email RC3 to inform us of the absence. Please email at: rc3main@hoover.k12.al.us at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled arrival time.

Please be aware that RC3 attendance policy and procedures may differ from your base school. Please be sure to turn in excuses to both RC3 and your base school.

There are steps you can take to prevent spreading influenza to others:

• Wash hands often, especially after coughing, sneezing and wiping or blowing nose.

• Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing

• Use paper tissues when wiping or blowing the nose: throw tissues away after each use.

• Stay away from crowded living and sleeping spaces, if possible

• Keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth.

A sick child is advised to stay at home during the first days of illness when symptoms are most severe and the infection is contagious. He/She can return to school when his/her temperature has been less than 100 degrees for 24 hours without the help of any medication to help him/her be fever free.

The Hoover City School Board approved the 2024-2025 School Calendar.

You MUST park in your assigned space every day. If you do not have an assigned parking space at RC3, you are NOT allowed to park on the campus.

Driving to RC3 is a privilege, not a right. There are consequences for failing to follow all rules associated with driving to and from RC3. For questions or concerns, please see Officer Thomas.
