It Is Time for Prek and Kindergarten Registration!
It is very important we get kindergarten students to register early; it helps us with numbers for teachers and classrooms for next year!
New Integrated Reading and Writing SOL Tests for 5th Graders
Beginning in spring 2024, the Grade 5 Standards of Learning (SOL) tests now have a new test-a new, integrated Reading and Writing (IRW) assessment. Our 5th graders will be taking this test on Thursday, April 4, 2024. For us, it will start at 9 am on Thursday.
New, IRW Test format:
- Students will be presented with one nonfiction passage based on history or science content and then answer 5-6 multiple-choice/technology-enhanced items. This component is not computer adaptive.
- Students will also receive a writing prompt. The nonfiction passage provides context for students to use when responding to the prompt, or it may serve as a springboard for students who choose to incorporate personal experiences in their responses.
- Students compose their response in the online test (TestNav).
- The online test must be completed in one day.
