Health News
Please review the Chelmsford Public School's NEW Updated Covid Health and Safety Protocol found on the CPS health website. Reach out to Nurse Kristen for further questions or your healthcare provider when in need of further medical assistance.
Below is an excerpt from the new guidelines:
According to the new guidance, the 5-day isolation requirement has been discontinued and schools should follow the recommendation for the general population to stay home when experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness, such as COVID-19, Flu, and RSV. Staying home when sick helps prevent the spread of germs. Please follow these recommendations to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:
If you have tested positive for a respiratory virus and develop any respiratory symptoms:
- If you have a fever, or any other symptoms of respiratory illness, you should be at home. You may begin to resume normal activities with some precautions when:
- You have not had a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicines
- AND Your symptoms are improving.
- Then, take the recommended extra precautions during the next 5 days:
- Although not required, choosing to stay home for about 72 hours may help reduce the chances that you spread the virus to others.
- Avoid crowded indoor spaces
- Wear a mask indoors around other people
- Wash your hands often with soap and warm water. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue or your inner elbow, not your hands.
- Clean high-touch surfaces (such as countertops, handrails, and doorknobs) often.
Please use our absence line (978-251-5188 Option 0) or our attendance email (chipsattendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) to report your child's absence from school and be sure to state the reason for the absence (illness, appointment, travel, etc). If your child is out due to illness, please let us know the nature of the illness (fever, vomiting, cough, etc.).
Nurse Kristen can be reached by calling the CHIPS main number (978-251-5188) and selecting option 3.
