Chisholm Update
March 1, 2024

Happy Friday Charger Families!
I hope you are doing well as we head into the last week before spring break. This time of year often can get a little hectic with a variety of events, but that also means we get to experience events like the 5th grade Living History Museum, which took place last evening at Chisholm.
For those of you unfamiliar with Living History Museum, this annual event towards the end of February or early March provide the 5th graders with an opportunity to select, research, and write a narrative of a historical character. Once the writing portion is complete, students then rehearse, and present their character to families and friends, which is what took place last evening. The 5th graders did such a great job with this activity developing skills that will serve them well in the future. We had 6 students present their character this morning at Charge Up and they did very well.
This coming Thursday, March 14 our 2nd grade classrooms will be presenting their Fitness Follies with two performances at 6:00 and 7:00. We have split this event into two to help with seating and parking, and it will take place in the gym.
Here is the schedule of when specific classes will be performing on the evening of the 14th:
- 6:00 for students in the classes of Boyle, Steedman, and Kelly
- 7:00 for the students in the classes of Jungers, Morgan, and Rose
Today through next Thursday, March 14, Chisholm will be running a penny wars between OU, OSU, and Thunder for Edmond Memorial's Swine Week Fundraiser. The money raised from this penny wars will be added to the money raised from the Super Bowl penny wars from early February. Edmond Memorial's Swine Week recipient this year is Peaceful Family. If you would like to hear learn more about the history of Swine Week and Peaceful Family, please click on this link.
We will have some dress up days during that last week before Spring Break to correlate with the Penny Wars and our Swine Week Fundraiser. That information is listed on a flyer below for those that wish to participate.
The March Smart Social Tip added to this newsletter has information on Snapchat that could be helpful for parents to monitor student use on this social media platform. This information can be found in the newsletters for the month. There is also a link to sign up for Smart Social information for those parents looking for information on similar topics. We hope you can continue to find this information useful!

The Edmond Creative - March edition has been added below for those that wish to read about or hear about the Fine Arts programs throughout the district.
Please help us during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal by not turning right on red as you enter the parking lot from the west. This will provide those turning left from the east an opportunity to enter into the parking lot as cars move along.
Dismissal Reminder for Spring Hill/ Old Farm/ Thornbrook walkers should only be used by students that live in those areas. If your student doesn't live in those neighborhoods they need to either use bus or car rider to get home at the end of the day. We don't want to send students into a neighborhood that don't live in that neighborhood.
Calling all Substitutes - If you are interested in becoming a substitute, as a classroom teacher or classroom assistant, or even if you want to inquire more about the possibility of becoming a substitute in the future, please click on this link or you can call the school. The district has recently approved some additional incentives ( Subs now get paid twice a month and if you work 6 out of 10 days in a pay period, they can now earn an addition $100 in the pay period).
