A Peek at 2024...

We hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement as we reflect on the achievements and progress made by our school community so far in 2024.

First and foremost, I am thrilled to celebrate the extraordinary success of our athletic teams this winter season. Our student-athletes have demonstrated dedication, skill, and sportsmanship, resulting in numerous victories and commendations. From the mountains to the basketball court, and every arena in between, our teams have consistently showcased their talent and commitment to their love of the sport. Looking forward to a fantastic SPRING season!

In addition to our athletic triumphs, our academic departments continue to thrive and inspire. Our students have excelled in their studies, achieving remarkable academic milestones and demonstrating exceptional intellectual growth. Whether it's in the sciences, humanities, or arts; our students have embraced the pursuit of knowledge with enthusiasm and determination. Their achievements reflect the ongoing dedication of our teachers and staff, who are providing guidance, support, and mentorship every step of the way.

We are beyond excited to see what the remainder of 2024 will bring. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to VTHS and for being an integral part in our journey towards growth, success and happiness.

Congratulations to our Vikings that were recognized at the beginning of January for their hard work and acts of kindness during the months of January and February.

Rachel Scott was the first fatal victim during the 1999 Columbine School Shooting. Speaker Keyona Williams, who has been spreading Rachel's message for a decade now, shepherded students in two assembles through that day with a focus on the power of building a foundation of connection, compassion and kindness. The Scott family started this program to help schools build safe communities where students can be themselves, be accepted and be heard. After the general assemblies, ninety student leaders were invited to a special session to develop actionable strategies to help strengthen the chain of connection, compassion and kindness here at VTHS. Students were also able to sign on to Rachel's Challenge at lunch in the cafeteria. This program has a proven track record nationwide of reducing teen suicides and increasing, by nearly 300 percent, feelings of safety and security among students. Thank you, Ms. Williams, for sharing your powerful message and thanks to the Scott Family for turning your tragedy into a mission that matters to us all. (-Mrs. Weyant)
