Safe Driving on Rainy Days☔ Safe Driving on Rainy Days☔

Drive safely in the rain | 2021-06-27 | Safety+Health (safetyandhealthmagazine.com)

Throughout Spring, we may start seeing more rainy weather.

Rain can reduce or impair your view of the road when driving. The rain can also make the roads slick, and hazardous to drive on.

Here are some tips to stay safe while driving in the rain this Spring:

  • Turn on your headlights

  • Avoid flooded areas

  • Drive slower in rainy conditions

  • Defrost your windows

  • Use your windshield wipers while driving

  • Turn off your cruise control to reduce the risk of hydroplaning

  • Slow down when turning

  • Brake earlier and less forcefully when it's raining

  • Dry the soles of your shoes before driving to avoid your foot slipping off the pedals while driving

  • If you are having a hard time seeing the road due to rain, pull off the road to a safe location, and wait for better weather conditions
