Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
Once again, we get to brag on some of our amazing BHS students! This edition includes some photos from the dress rehearsal of our high school musical last weekend, The Little Mermaid, as well as recognition for our March Rotary Student of the Month. Our Business Professionals of America students are at state competition and sophomore Marcus Hughbanks is competing at the Indoor Track Nationals. We have some amazingly talented young people!
As we move into next week, I want to draw your attention to a very important day for our students at BHS. Friday, March 15, 2024 is our Career/College Day. Please refer to the flier that’s included in this newsletter to preview what our students, grades 9-12, will be doing on this day. If you have a 10th grade student, they will be taking the LEAP ACT Diagnostic Assessment. You and your student will receive a diagnostic report to review and to utilize in preparation for their first attempt at taking the ACT for college admittance. Also, there is a free webinar for students and families on March 26, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The registration link is on the flier below.
Please continue to encourage your students to check their grades and help them get their work completed. March 22, 2024 is the last day of the third quarter.
Have a great weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

2024-25 FAFSA Update:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2024-25 academic year has undergone many changes, been updated for 2024, and is currently having a "soft launch". The website is up and running, but will be temporarily shut down occasionally for maintenance and updates. Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources as they are received.
Here is the link to a short video that explains what the FAFSA is: What is FAFSA?
We have also included the link to a slightly lengthier video that explains the entire FAFSA application process and answers many of your questions: The 2024-2025 Financial Aid Process
The student, as well as the parents/guardians must have their own FSA ID to begin the FAFSA application process. Here is the link to create your FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Lastly, here is the link to begin your FAFSA application: StudentAid.Gov
