Cheerleading
The Varsity Cheerleaders had a bit of break this week, between basketball playoff games. They used the time to partner up with the Arcola cheer team and practice some foundation skills together. The teams had fun working together and the seniors shared their favorite parts of high school cheer with the rising freshmen. The future is bright!
This weekend, two of our seniors, Gianna Kavash and Jorja Rembert, had a fantastic opportunity to continue their cheerleading careers beyond MHS. At camp in August, based on performance and leadership skills, they were invited to apply for jobs with the National Cheerleaders Association, working summer camps and events. At the live tryout event held this weekend, Gianna and Jorja were offered positions with NCA. Congratulations to them both!

Girls Winter Track
The Girls Track and Field Team continued their amazing season with several outstanding performances at the Meet of Champions on Friday night at Lehigh University. The annual championship meet featured the best athletes from more than 90 schools throughout the Delaware Valley.
Highlighting the meet was senior Summer Mellow. Summer medaled in all 3 events, setting the school record in the 60m Dash. Her time of 7.76 seconds placed her 3rd in the meet and is the 9th fastest time in PA this season. Mellow then took to the Long Jump, where she placed second with a leap of 17' 9". In her 3rd event of the meet, she anchored the 4x200 relay to a 6th place finish. Nicole Walsh, Jillian McTamney and Kenslee O'Donnell handled the first three legs of the event. Kenslee O'Donnell took home her second medal of the night with a blistering time of 9.52 seconds in the 60m hurdles, placing 6th and qualifying her for the State Championship Meet.
