Have you applied/reapplied for Free and Reduced Priced Meals?
Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income. If income falls below the amount listed below for household size, then students living within the household may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if the family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.
Changes and/or status changes occur every year. This year there will be a price category change as of October 11, 2023. Please be sure to apply or reapply in the event your price category is affected by this change.

Attendance
Please note we have implemented a Google form for submission of absences/late arrivals and notes. This form is the only acceptable method of communication and must be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes ONLY for your student(s). With the exception of COVID reporting in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil.

ABSENT NOTE SUBMISSION: Please complete this form within three (3) days once your child returns to instruction. Excused absences cannot be placed into SchoolMax until AFTER the child returns to instruction. Family vacations and trips are not considered excused absences. Refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for further clarification regarding excused and unexcused absences.

Nurse Updates
Nurse Ann and the School Health Services strongly recommend wearing a mask and keeping one available in your child's backpack.
Please help yourself and others -- keep your scholars home when they are not well.
Immunizations
Immunizations must be up-to-date and received by the school nurse to prevent exclusion from school.
Medication forms are attached. Please hand carry newly prescribed medication in the pharmacy packaging. Any adult may deliver the medication to the nurse. (appointments must be made)

The Annual Muffins for Moms & Matriarchs Is Coming Up!
Calling all Tiger Dads and Dudes, we still need your help for Muffins for Mom & Matriarchs! Please volunteer your time and talents toward executing this special event! Kind Kindergarten News!
Hello Kindergarten Families:
ELA: We are reviewing rhyming words and beginning sounds. Our sight words for the week are: white, brown, black.
Social Studies:We are discussing the four seasons; how the weather changes and what we can wear in the different seasons.
Math: We have started on topic 13, Analyzing, Comparing, and Creating Shapes.
Science: We will continue to talk about environments; how plants and animals can change an environment.

The permission slip was sent out in an email over Spring Break. If you are in need of a printed copy, please reach out to your scholars teacher.
Please make payments using the My-School Bucks in the link that Ms. Virgil sent out over Spring Break. Chaperones do not have to pay for the trip.
All permission slips and payments for the field-trip must be paid by Friday, April 12, 2024.
Your scholars will be eating lunch outside of the museum before the tour gets started. Please pack a nut-free lunch, with all disposable items, including the drink container. If your scholar will need a bagged lunch from school, please let your scholar's teacher know by Friday, April 12, 2024. We must send the lunch count to the cafeteria staff on Friday, April 12, 2024.
*Friendly reminder: If your scholar is not feeling well, please keep them home. They should not be in school with a fever, a constant runny nose, or a cough that disrupts their ability to focus and concentrate on their lessons.

Scholars will study "The Scarlet Stockings Spy" with a focus on the reading skills of monitoring comprehension and inferring multiple themes. Word Parts: anti-, mid-, and trans- will be studied in vocabulary and they will continue to focus on science fiction in their writing narratives.

We are continuing to explain how human activities affect Earth's resources and environments.

This week in Social Studies we will continue to work on Chapter: 7 Life in the Young Republic, Lesson 1: The First Presidents

Hello!! K & 5th grade are beginning to practice their promotion songs.
1st grade is finishing out learning about piano and forte. 2nd grade is continuing to learn about note values. 3rd grade is finishing performing music scores they wrote their own dynamic markings on. 4th grade is learning about major and minor chords!
Art
Greetings,
Classes will primarily consist of independent work to plan and work on their projects . Projects include portraits, still life, architecture, and other activities that develop their understanding of shapes and value in 3D images. We will continue to stress planning and craftsmanship.
Technology

Keyboarding: Locate and Type Letters P, Q, R, S, and T
The learners receive direct instruction and practice in keyboarding the letters P, Q, R, S, and T as they locate and type the letters, recognize the letter sounds, and learn the relationship between the letters on the keyboard and on the screen during this engaging and interactive digital lesson.
3-5 students practiced:
Software Fundamentals: Windows and Controls
In this engaging and interactive digital lesson, the learners receive direct instruction and practice with dialog boxes and options windows, making selections using check boxes, radio buttons, scroll bars, and dropdown menus, and controls to close, maximize, minimize, restore, and resize windows.

Greetings,
This week, we are practicing our basketball dribbling skills, so please make sure your scholar has proper athletic shoes, and water as the weather is getting warmer, so are the students! Thank you.
STEM II
Greetings,
In STEM II, our kindergarten scholars are continuing to learn about how plants and animals change the environment. We learned about recycling and reusing and they made paper hand fans.
Our 1st grade scholars will continue learning about biomimicry. 2nd grade scholars will be continuing to learn about habitats and what plants and animals are found in each habitat.
3rd grade scholars had an opportunity to play their pinball machines in class. We will begin learning about coding.
4th grade scholars will be learning about ways to communicate and send messages using light.
5th grade scholars will learn about the layers of the Sun.
