EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
For this week's Educator of the Week recognition, we have selected Mrs. Olivia Stys. Mrs. Stys is an energetic and talented Kindergarten teacher at the EWS. This is just her first year of teaching in the District, but Mrs. Stys has already made a huge impact on the EWS community.
Principal Bishop was effusive in her praise for Mrs. Stys: "Mrs. Olivia Stys is one of our exceptionally talented kindergarten teachers at Eames Way School. She is a top-notch educator who has successfully built a beautiful, calm, and welcoming learning environment for all of her students. Her relationships with children, families, and staff are strong and meaningful. She has incredible instincts when it comes to anticipating her students' needs, whether they be social, emotional, or academic. She is absolutely beloved by all of us at EWS and we all feel lucky to have her as a teammate and colleague!"
Congratulations to Mrs. Stys for being our Educator of the Week. The EWS and the entire District is fortunate to have her on our team. #WeRMarshfield
ALL-TOWN STRINGS CONCERT
Musicians from all grades came together Wednesday Night for the Annual All-Town Strings Concert. It was a wonderful night of music, celebrated with stakeholders from across the community. Below is a special note from Elementary Strings Teacher, Ms. Leigh Schoepflin:
Dear Musicians, Families, and MPSD Administrators,
CONGRATULATIONS on a beautiful performance last night!
To the musicians: Illumina took the world by storm (because it was a world premier...)! The contrast of smooth and short bows was evident and the melodies were played beautifully. And did you hear the last note ring?!?!?! Ode to Joy took the entire concert over the top :) Your hard work, focus, practice, and dedication really paid off!
To the parent/guardian and high school volunteers: Your support before the concert was immeasurable! Thank you for keeping all of us (myself included) organized and for volunteering your time.
To the families and administrators: THANK YOU really does not begin to cover it! Your support of the young musicians through before-school rehearsals, weather cancellations, and at-home practice made this concert happen.
If anyone has any photos or videos they could share, please send them my way. I'd love to add them to our collection!
Time to start working on the spring concert music and some new skills. Thank you for your constant support of the young musicians!

MARSHFIELD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDED
$1 MILLION GRANT FOR MARITIME ACADEMY
In a groundbreaking initiative, The Atlantic Resiliency Innovation Institute (ARII), in collaboration with The Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, Northeastern University, Marshfield Public Schools, and the Town of Marshfield, is establishing a federally funded technology incubator and workforce development program. This unique partnership will bring to market new coastal hazard mitigation solutions, enhancing community resilience, and establish a science-based community on the South Shore.
“We are unbelievably grateful for the opportunity to work on such critical solutions for our community,” said Jeremy Devaney, Co-Founder and Executive Director of ARII which oversees Marshfield Coastal Academy and Marshfield Coastal Hazard Lab. “The need for new solutions has never been higher - beyond new technologies, we need to grow the workforce to implement, monitor, and maintain our future coastal defenses.”
ARII’s programming through Marshfield Coastal Academy includes certificate programs, as well as
workshops, research projects, STEM enhancement, and community engagement to address the pressing coastal challenges faced by the region. “Our collaboration with esteemed partners like Northeastern University will allow us to grow a large pool of trained workers here on the South Shore and beyond,” said Lara Brait, Co-founder and Director of Funding & Partnerships at ARII.
"Achieving coastal resilience requires collaboration across sectors, including robust partnerships
between institutions like Northeastern University, government agencies, public schools, and community stakeholders. Through shared expertise and community engagement, and the creation of ARII, we can create new employment opportunities and build a resilient coastline that protects both people and ecosystems,” said Jared Auclair, Interim Dean, College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University.
Michael Maresco, Marshfield Town Administrator, said, “This is an incredible opportunity for the Town Of Marshfield, The Marshfield Public Schools and the Chamber of Commerce to partner with such a highly respected university as Northeastern University. This came to fruition thanks to the support of Senator Markey, Senator Warren and Jim Cantwell. Their efforts have made it possible for the one million dollars that will fund this partnership to study climate change through the Marshfield Coastal Academy. We are the perfect community for this study with our beaches and rivers where scientists and students will see the full effect of climate change and coastal storms. I look forward to working together with our Chamber, Northeastern University, our students and our Senators. We are grateful and excited to be able to contribute to our future survival as an oceanfront community.”
Marshfield Superintendent, Jeffrey Granatino, added, "The Marshfield Coastal Academy is an exciting opportunity for recent high school graduates. In collaboration with Northeastern University,
participants will have the opportunity to access essential STEAM-related coursework that could be
applied to additional schooling in a post-secondary setting, as well as providing them with real world problem-solving skills that could be used in a science based employment opportunity."
Senator Ed Markey and his staff along with Senator Elizabeth Warren’s support of the vision for ARII has been instrumental in the initial phases of its creation. Strong leadership for Massachusetts communities is essential for the future of the Commonwealth.
The Institute focuses on integrating educational pathways for young adults, developing new coastal
hazard mitigation solutions, and promoting career success in civil engineering, environmental and
coastal management fields.

MHS SHINES AT STATE DECA CONFERENCE
Below is a summary from DECA Advisor, Meghan Webber, of the success our MHS students had at the Massachusetts DECA State Career Development Conference
TWO of our students, Taylor Twomey and Bobby Scott, were elected to the Massachusetts DECA State Officer Team. They ran against 16 other students for this position and were two of seven elected to lead the 8th largest state/territory association in all of DECA (MA DECA has over 10,000 students which they will now be leading)! We are so proud of them and this incredible accomplishment!
Marshfield DECA earned the Diamond Level Chapter of Excellence Award for the first time. Only 4 chapters across the state of Massachusetts were selected and recognized in the Chapter of Excellence competition, with Marshfield earning the second highest distinction.
Marshfield DECA also received recognition for completing the National DECA Campaigns in the following areas:
•Membership Campaign - Marshfield DECA grew by approximately 30 members from last year to this year.
•Promotional Campaign - Marshfield DECA officers planned a series of activities raising awareness for the organization both inside and outside of Marshfield High School including appearing on a local radio show, submitting a press release to the local newspaper, and teaching entrepreneurship lessons at Marshfield elementary schools.

We also received recognition for earning the Gold Level Re-Certification of the Ram’s Den School Store. Students in the small business management class at MHS wrote a thorough business plan discussing promotional and operational highlights of the store. By completing this paper, we have earned 2 spots for students to attend the International Conference.

Thank you to Julie Keohane and the team at the Marshfield McDonalds for hosting a fundraiser at their restaurant this week. From 5-7 PM on Monday night, 20% of all sales went towards the MHS Grad Nite Live celebration for MHS Seniors.
The place was hopping for those two hours with dozens upon dozens of students, friends and family ordering the tasty McDonalds cuisine. At the end of the 2 hour event, over $800 went towards Grad Nite Live. What made the event even more fun was that we had a number of MHS staff in attendance to work at various jobs around the restaurant. They were: Ms. Christy Pitts, Ms. Cindy Goode, Ms. Tammy Kantarowksi, Ms. Alyssa Gage, Mr. Nick Landry & Principal Amy Cetner.
Thank you all for a great night. #WeRMarshfield
