The Importance of the Kansas Assessment Program
Dear TMS Families,
Beginning the week of March 25th, Tonganoxie Middle School students will participate in the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP.)
These common assessments measure real-world skills like problem-solving and critical thinking.
While state assessments are only one measure of student learning, having all Kansas students take this set of assessments provides parents and schools with information about how well schools are preparing students for academic success, how well programs are working, and the ability to evaluate those programs.
This link can offer more information about state assessments, school accountability, and your role in the assessment process. The Parent Guide to Kansas State Assessments.
Tonganoxie Middle School will be administering these assessments beginning next week.
Week of March 25th---6th and 8th Grade Language Arts
Week of April 1st---7th Grade Language Arts And 8th Grade Science
Week of April 8th---6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Math
Students can benefit from a good night’s sleep, getting to school on time, proper nourishment, and approaching these assessments with a “Can do” attitude.
We thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Kasi Brown
TMS Principal
