The Conejo Valley Unified School District proudly celebrates Read Across America Week: March 2, 2024 to March 6, 2024. This national, weeklong event promotes the benefits of reading as well as the importance of adult involvement in the education of our community’s students.

Read Across America Week was born in 1998 by the National Education Association. Throughout the years, it has become America's largest celebration of reading. Read Across America celebrates a nation of diverse readers and academically engaged students while working to build cultural awareness, encourage empathy, and emphasize acceptance.

The CVUSD is so grateful for all of our parents/guardians and students who volunteer their time to participate in an advisory council and/or committee. Your feedback and input is truly an invaluable asset in our work of providing exceptional educational experiences to all students.

The CVUSD’s Parent Outreach Program is proud to present the March 2024 online event for Spanish-speaking parents, "The Importance of the Parent-Child Relationship for a Solid Foundation in Their Future." The event's presenter is Tony Orozco, BS, CPDT, an international speaker. This cost-free event will take place on Thursday, March 7th from 6pm - 8pm online via zoom, with English translation available.

CVUSD Parents/Guardians and students 12+ are invited to the March workshop: "Stepping Into Social Media" with presenters Amy Adams, MSW, PPSC, and Hillary Wilkinson, M.Ed. This presentation is designed to foster communication and understanding between parents and teens. The benefits and harms accompanying social media use and how to establish healthy boundaries will be discussed.

This is an in-person event on Thursday, March 14th at 6pm in Century Academy's Multipurpose Room (33 Greta Street, Thousand Oaks).

On Friday, March 1st, in front of packed bleachers, Newbury Park High School hosted Westlake High School for the first of three Unified Basketball Games that will take place this month. All three of our CVUSD comprehensive high schools are Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools, which is centered on inclusion, engagement and fun. Since 2018, our Unified Sports teams from Thousand Oaks High, Newbury Park High and Westlake High have been meeting at center court for the annual Unified Basketball Games.

A big thank you to all of our dedicated staff members who work tirelessly to make this program a success. The CVUSD is so proud of our Athletes, Unified Partners and school communities for their support of this invaluable program! Click here to learn more.

Here's a "Bright Spot" to start off the week! Check out our Unified Basketball Game with Westlake High School and Newbury Park High School highlighted on NBC4's Today in LA this morning (Monday, March 4th). Thank you NBC for shining a light on this impactful program.

Did you know that here in the CVUSD we offer 15 different career sectors of course offerings that our students can engage in. These courses feature everything from Manufacturing (welding and construction) to Arts, Media & Entertainment (video production and graphic design) and everything in between. On Thursday, February 29th the annual "CVUSD CTE Advisory Day: Leap into Your Future" event was held with participation from CVUSD students, educators, administrators and local businesses/organizations. The goal? Make connections, discuss desired outcomes, share ideas and continue to develop impactful school to career pathways for students now and after graduation day.
