A reminder that Wednesday, April 10 is a professional day to finalize grades for the end of the marking period.
Synergy v 2024 and End of MP3 Updates
Please carefully read through the attached document and save it for your reference while you are finalizing grades over the course of the next week or so. Most information is the same from previous MPs. Updates include:
- MP3 Dates (additional information window is now open!)
- If you previously contacted Jennifer regarding grade completion, you will be contacting Ilana this MP (and probably next!)
MP3 MHES Grading & Reporting Guidance
Just a reminder/heads up. I sent these updates before break regarding the update to gradebook. Based on feedback from you all, the process is a bit lengthier so I suggest you get started on entering grades asap, and not wait to enter all grades next Wednesday. At least try to familiarize yourself with the new process this week if you can.
Some things to remember when you’re ready to enter grades:
- You will need to go back and change to “View by Standard” in each subject again. Not sure if you’ll have to do it every time you log in, or just the first time after the transition

MCPS ELA Update
Message from Curriculum Office:
As you may have heard, the Board of Education has officially approved the implementation of Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts as our new elementary English Language Arts curriculum for the upcoming school year.
This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance literacy instruction and support student achievement. CKLA offers a comprehensive structure to teaching reading and writing, incorporating an evidence-based approach and resources to meet the diverse needs of our students.
We will share a draft rollout plan in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to promoting literacy excellence in our elementary schools. I am truly grateful for your dedication and passion.
Solar Eclipse - April 8
The partial eclipse will be from 2-4:30 with peak at 3:20. The School System Medical Officer is sharing that schools should not have students outside during this time, except to dismiss. So, no extra recess or outside activities after 2pm on April 8th so we limit the chance of students looking directly at the eclipse. Linked below is information and potential acitivies from the science office.
Testing
It's that time of year! MCAP testing begins April 8th and MAP testing begins May 6.

Upcoming Events
Growth and Achievement Award Assemblies will be held on Thursday, April 25th in the APR. Sheldon Mizelle will be sharing more information regarding the awards. Similar to last quarter, we will have families in attendance and offer a zoom link to watch the awards.

Mad Science In School event will take place on May 7, 9 and 10 in Portable 1. A schedule and more details will be coming out soon. Each class will have approximately one hour for this event.
PTA News
PTA is eager to accept your receipts for reimbursements and to receive any mini-grants you would like to be granted between now and the end of the school year. See the forms attached below!
