LycoCTC Rotary Student Of The Month for January-Isabella Short
The Lycoming Career and Technology Center is pleased to announce Isabella Short as
Rotary/LycoCTC Student of the Month for January, 2024. Isabella, daughter of Lisa Craft of
Muncy, PA, has received this honor based upon her outstanding work ethic, attendance,
behavior, community service, and the recommendation of her LycoCTC Early Childhood
Education class instructor.
A Muncy High School junior, Isabella participates on the Muncy High School Winter and Spring
Track Teams, and she is a member of the Lycoming Career and Technology Center Chapter of
Skills USA. Isabella works with LycoTykes as part of her Early Childhood Education Class, and
she has assisted in LycoCTC recruitment activities at her home school and at LycoCTC.
Following graduation in 2025, Isabella hopes to continue her studies in the area of elementary
education.
Cooperative Education
We are excited to continue providing more students with work-based learning experiences and appreciate all of our local business partners. There are currently 19 students participating in our cooperative education program.
Automotive Technology Level 1
A student in the Auto 1 pm class is using an abrasive wheel chopsaw to cut c-channel.
Students are learning overhead SMAW welding in Auto 1 class.
Automotive Technology Level 2/3
Students are learning how to replace ball joints on a truck.
Students are learning how to overhaul a starter.
Students are using the Hunter Hawkeye alignment machine. They are setting the steering geometry to correct specifications.
Computer Systems Technology
Students in Computers are rebuilding a PC.
Construction Technology
Students in Construction are still working on their framing project.
Criminal Justice
Students in Criminal Justice are learning about traffic control devices and responding to a scene.
Culinary Arts
The culinary students are learning how to prepare and cook their new 10 day rotation menu. This menu will be available to the public when the cafe is open on February 2nd!
Early Childhood
The LycoCTC Early Childhood Education class along with the LycoTykes preschool welcomed Missy Black from the Lycoming County SPCA. Ms. Black presented a lesson on pet safety to the children and also the importance of taking care of their furry family members! The classes presented the SPCA with a donation of pet food and supplies to take the animals that are waiting for adoption at the SPCA.
Health Careers- Mrs. Wallace
Level 2 students created brochures to educate their "patients" (classmates) on common Autoimmune Diseases as part of their instruction on the Lymphatic/Immune System. Pictured below is 1 of the brochures!

Level 2 students made a model of the thoracic cavity/lungs to demonstrate the changes in volume and pressure inside the thoracic cavity during inhalation and exhalation as part of their instruction on the respiratory system.
Health Careers- Mrs. Shaffer
The level 1 students in Mrs. Shaffer's class are learning and practicing measuring blood pressure.
The level 3 students are practicing some of the skills for the NOCTI performance test. Those skills include measuring vital signs and properly donning and doffing PPE.
Student Visitations
9th grade students from our sending districts had the opportunity to come visit LycoCTC. They were able to spend time in all of our classes. Our current students and teachers did an excellent job showing them what Lyco has to offer! Students were encouraged to continue discussing their career pathway with their parents and school counselors as they begin their course selections in their high schools.
LycoCTC Alumni Spotlight
Nadya Minnick-Montoursville 2018-Health Careers
Nadya is a 2018 graduate from Montoursville Highschool. She was in our Health Careers program! During her 3 years at Lyco she received her CNA certificate. Nadya did her cooperative education placement at Valley View Nursing Home and worked as a CNA. After graduation she attended Pennsylvania College of Technology. She graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing. Nadya is currently working as a Registered Nurse at UPMC in the Intensive Care Unit!
