Principal's Message:
Greetings Forest Park Students and Families,
I hope everyone is excited about our lovely evening together this Saturday, April 27th, celebrating Forest Park’s Silver Jubilee! The auction catalog is live online today for previewing. If you start from the auction home page, scroll to bottom left corner to “Browse Catalog by Category”.
Special message from Cynthia Wise, FOFPE Auction Chair:
FPE families and friends, you may now view the catalog of auction items online!
A few silent auction items will be available early online to everyone with the link so bidding can commence. Bidding on these items will close at the time of the auction.
If you cannot make the auction Saturday night, but want to bid on live items, you may sign up to have a proxy bidder.
Students report exciting updates about our school play structure (check out this link to slide-deck pics.)! Fencing went up late afternoon Wednesday, April 17th. A construction crew began demolition Monday, April 22nd this week. A few expectations/rules to follow:
the play structure is officially closed (pic. here) until completion; please stay out of and off the play structure while it is fenced-off
student observing/viewing is encouraged…however, this is how far I want students to stand away from the construction during recesses linked video here
please wait until Dr. Martini officially opens the play structure to climb on; once completed, I will make sure to open it ASAP!
Student observations of play structure demolition and construction progress:
Luca (Gr. 5) “...I see destruction…I see that they’re making new things. I expect to see more slides!”
Cece (Gr. 1) “I think there should be a lot of monkey bars. There should be a really high slide! You know what I’m going to try first when the play structure opens?...the new monkey bars!”
Arun (Gr. 5) “I think they’re taking the play structure down for now, putting in new material on the ground and new equipment up to play on later.”
Sansa (Gr. 1) “...I think things are cuckoo! I want the play structure to stay because it’s the first place I used the monkey bars. I’m looking forward to doing back flips on the new bars.”
Wilder, Atlas, Iasonas, Grey, Raphaël (Gr. 2) discussed the replacement of half the bark chips with outdoor foam-rubber flooring, and “...everyone knows there’ll be slides…”
Lydia, Nina, Karishma (Gr. 3) described a song created among them “...the playground is die-die-dying and we are cry-cry-crying…” Sadness was expressed for the loss of old memories, but also excitement for new equipment!
We have much to celebrate! I look forward to seeing you at the Silver Jubilee Auction Saturday, Dr. Martini
