Newsletter 1.3.24
This week...
We have had a number of visitors in school this week, helping to broaden and enrich our children's learning experiences. Not only has this been beneficial to learning, but also thoroughly enjoyable!
I was delighted, after each visit, to find unprompted emails from the visitors, all complimenting our fantastic, polite, engaged and well-behaved children. We are very proud of you, St Joseph's.
Thank you so much for all our your feedback via our families survey. It's great to know how families feel about our school and ways we can improve. I am collating the responses over the weekend and we will report our findings, and actions going forward, in next week's newsletter.
We were honoured to celebrate First Holy Communion with some of our children last Sunday. Thank you to the staff members and governors who attended and to the families who came to celebrate Mass and to support our children. It was a beautiful event.
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you, as always, for supporting us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Virtue of Love
Again, we have been exploring and celebrating the virtue of love across school this week. It's wonderful to see so many children and staff demonstrating the love for one another that Jesus taught us.
When your child shows love at home, please let us know so we can celebrate this in school too.
World Book Day
Next Thursday, 7th March, we are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day!
We are using The Midnight Grocer as a focus book across our classes (Y1-6)
St Francis (Preschool/Reception) will be exploring The Night Pirates
St Nicholas (Nursery) will be focussing on Peace at Last
Children are invited to attend school next Thursday in their pyjamas!
This can include dressing gowns and slippers, if they would like.
See below for further information about The Midnight Grocer:
Author Visit
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome the children's author, Brian Beresford, into our school!
His children's book, The Midnight Grocer, is available for families to purchase. Please see the letter emailed to parents/carers on Tuesday, to find details of how to purchase a SIGNED copy, which will be delivered to school in time for World Book Day.
Brian ran a workshop for our Y1-6 children, including live music and storytelling. The children were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed the opportunity to ask their questions to a real life author!
History Workshop
Reading Raffle!
We are introducing a Reading Raffle in school! This will begin from next week.
Evidence shows the significant impact that reading has on children's learning and we encourage children to read at home daily.
If a child has read at least 3 times per week (and has this recorded in their reading record/ planner), they will automatically be entered into our weekly Reading Raffle!
Winners announced each week in Celebration Assembly.
Positive Psychology Week
Children's mental health is important to us, and we are excited to be launching a Positive Psychology Week across our school and nursery on 11-15th March.
See the newsletter next week for further details!
First Holy Communion
It was an honour to celebrate some of our children who received the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time this weekend. Thank you to Father Sean for a beautiful Mass and to the parish of St Joseph's for welcoming us (and even bringing out the posh biscuits!)
Many congratulations to:
Lacey-May, Owen, Ronnie, Felicity, Arabella
PSHCE - Healthy Eating!
Last week, we launched the Eat Them to Defeat Them, healthy eating campaign! Thank you for continuing to support with this at home - we have enjoyed hearing about all the new fruits and vegetables our children are tasting at home!
Open Classrooms and Learning Reviews - Save the Date!
On Wednesday 10th April, from 2:30-3:30pm, we are hosting open classrooms, where children invite their families into school to share their wonderful learning.
After this, from 3:40pm-7:00pm, teachers will be holding learning reviews with parents/carers. Information on how to book a slot will be released nearer the date.
