Dear LP Families,

We have much to be grateful for this week. Our own LP family has grown by one! Fifth grade teacher, Mr. Penrose and his wife welcomed their daughter Harper Charlotte Penrose. Both mom and baby are doing well and everyone is home acclimating to life with a toddler and new born. Please join me in sending all the best to the Penrose family!

This week, we started a new opportunity for students called 'Future Leaders of Tomorrow'. This student council is being led by Mrs. Catalfano, Mr. Trerise, and Mrs. Christensen. Students had to apply to be on the committee; we were overwhelmed and excited by the number of applicants! During their first meeting, initial plans were created to do a kindness spirit week in the near future. We are really looking forward to seeing what our student leaders come up with!

More good news! Students met their goal of earning 2,500 HEART tickets for showing positive behaviors in school. As a reward, each grade level participated in their own BINGO tournament and won a few prizes. We continue to be proud of their hard work!

News from Mrs. Lipani

We are excited to announce ALL students at LP will be participating in a Math Competition next week!! The competition will take place on Thursday, March 21st. The first round of the competition is virtual, and students will compete during the school day. Winners will be invited to compete in Albany with students from across the State!

How can you help? Have your student show you the First in Math APP. Students can access the APP even if they don’t bring their devices home. Have them come see Mrs. Lipani and she will send home the information for your child.

Students can practice their skills for the competition.

In case you hadn’t heard the news, we’re doing a yearbook again this year! The yearbook is looking to celebrate current LP 5th graders as they conclude their elementary career and begin the next chapter of their schooling! 5th grade families have the opportunity to send in a baby picture of their child to be added to the yearbook with a short message (50 words or less) to their child. Who: This only applies to current LP 5th graders When: Picture/message/money due by Thursday, March 28. Cost: Due to limited space in the yearbook, there may only be 1 picture per student. The cost is $5 (exact cash only) to be sent in to school in a bag/envelope labeled with your child’s name. This money will be used for fun activities at the 5th grade end-of-year picnic. Where: Please send digital copies of the message/photo to Mrs. Antonelli at jantonelli@eastiron.org If you don’t get a confirmation email in 2 school days, please reach out again. Please send the money in at the same time you email your picture. Please reach out with any questions.
