Happy Isibindi Day!
Oakleigh shares her Pi City she graphed on Pi Day!
3-14-24 Pi Day
1. The symbol for Pi has been in use for over 250 years. The symbol was introduced by William Jones, a Welsh mathematician, in 1706. The symbol was made popular by the mathematician Leonhard Euler.
2. Since the exact value of pi can never be calculated, we can never find the accurate area or circumference of a circle.
3. March 14 or 3/14 is celebrated as pi day because 3.14 are the first digits of pi. Math nerds around the world love celebrating this infinitely long, never-ending number.
4. The record for reciting the most number of decimal places of Pi was achieved by Rajveer Meena at VIT University, Vellore, India on 21 March 2015. He was able to recite 70,000 decimal places. To maintain the sanctity of the record, Rajveer wore a blindfold throughout the duration of his recall, which took an astonishing 10 hours!

Essential 55
Rule #1
In life, as long as you make decisions and start from a place where you try to shine more light on others than on yourself, you are living right. When you choose to highlight the talents and gifts of others, they will, in turn, be more likely to point out your accomplishments.
Rule #2
Make eye contact. When someone is speaking keep your eyes on him or her at all times. If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person.
Making eye contact is not only a way to show confidence, it is also an important way to show respect. In class, when someone shares a response or opinion, all students should turn around and face that individual. You should not raise your hand or stand to make additional comments until the other person has finished speaking. When you do this, it appears that you value what you have to say more than what the other person is saying. Everyone’s opinion has value and we should respect that, even when we disagree.
Rule #3
Seek to uplift others. If someone in the class wins a game or does something well, we congratulate that person. Claps should be of at least three seconds in length with the full part of both hands meeting in a manner that will give the appropriate clap volume. (It is important to make this clear)
Irving shares qualities that make a good leader in his den meeting!
