It was wonderful to see all of the student faces and a few smiles 😉 to be back at school on Monday. Grades are posted and we are officially in our last 9 weeks of this school year. I cannot believe I am typing that. It has been a great year. We have so many activities planned and it will be busy!

I hope that your Spring Break was restful and enjoyable. My family and I had the best time in Jackson, Wyoming. It was nice to unplug, be among nature and the SNOW! I love snow and I got plenty.

I am rested and refueled for what these last weeks of the school year brings.

On April 8th, there will be no off-campus lunch. With the Solar Eclipse, we feel it is best for the safety of our students to stay on campus. There will be an increase of visitors to our area and with the increase in traffic, this will eliminate students rushing back to campus or being stuck in traffic.

All students will have the opportunity to view the eclipse.

LPS students will experience a unique learning opportunity April 8, as a total solar eclipse occurs in the middle of their school day.

LPS is in the path of totality, where the moon’s shadow completely covers the sun, and students will have a chance to view it from outside, weather permitting. The school will provide certified solar viewing glasses to every student and teacher, to ensure safe viewing.

Attached is a permission form to allow your student(s) the opportunity to view this event. This must be returned by April 4th in order for students to view outdoors.

COMMUNITY SERVICE REMINDERS

• SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT OUR CLOTHING DRIVE: Clothing and shoes in good condition are the ONLY items that qualify for drop off at our recycling containers, which are located on the east side of our secondary campus. All items must be in 13-gallon bags. Other items, such as pictures and toys, and items in boxes are a few of the things that have been “dumped” outside of our containers lately. If the dumping continues then we may lose our containers and won’t be able to offer this donation option to our community. Please do your part by 1) using the containers correctly and 2) reporting dumping (please include date and time seen) via an email to helperhelper@lpsfrisco.net.

• DONATIONS: Only donations given in conjunction with LPS-coordinated drives are eligible towards required service hours; up to half of required hours may be fulfilled via appropriate donations. Please follow information in the listings for specifics regarding condition and type of items accepted.

• ATTENTION SENIORS: If your student is a senior and wants to qualify for special recognition at graduation, then they must have 150 or more validated hours between June 1, 2020 and April 1, 2024. The deadline for submission of these hours is April 1, 2024.

• COORDINATORS: In almost all cases, parents do not act as coordinators. Please list a coordinator that is affiliated with the non-profit organization and has an email address with that organization.

• TWO WEEK DEADLINE: Students need to submit their service hours within two weeks of the service date.

• DESCRIBE SERVICE: Students need to include a description of their service in the “message to coordinator” field for each commitment submitted.

• PLEASE TAKE PICTURES: As pictures are sometimes needed as proof of service, please consider taking a picture of your student serving in case it is needed later on.

• SEMESTER SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Spring semester deadline for submission of commitments is May 5, 2024.

Jimmy John's and Chick-fil-a ordering is now open for April! Please visit myschoolbucks.com to order. Be sure to select the correct student when ordering, changes cannot be made. Jimmy John's will be offered on Mondays and is available on the following Mondays in April: 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 & 4/29. Chick-fil-a will be offered on Thursdays and is available on the following dates in April: 4/4, 4/11, 4/18 & 4/25. Ordering will close on March 26th.
