Board Report April 2024
Director of Operations
MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS / TRANSPORTATION
- The grass, clover, and weeds are growing so our grounds guys are staying busy with mowing, edging, trimming, and spraying.
- The Maintenance, Technology, and Child Nutrition Departments met with WRA to view the plans for LH Rather in mid February. We have 100% of the Plan/Design Phase drawings.
- Exterior doors are remaining a top priority and these are being check in each building weekly or even daily. The maintenance department knows the importance of these door sweeps and are quick to respond when work orders are placed.
- We are happy to have the LED lights for the tennis courts because that is a popular place during tennis season. It seems like we are seeing a tournament there every week.
- We were prepped for the 2024 Eclipse! The Maintenance department built barricades and assisted Chief Templeton zone off the schools for student safety.
- The Auditorium received multiple broken windows during Spring Break. We ordered plexiglass and have installed the replacements.
TECHNOLOGY
- Our Team has been working on getting all the Chromebooks repaired and ready for state testing. Stephanie has been working with Instructional Coaches and Mrs. Buckaloo on getting apps prepared for, STAAR, ACT, and AP tests.
- Mike and Daniel are continuing to add devices to our new, updated EDR. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), also referred to as endpoint detection and threat response (EDTR), is an endpoint security solution that continuously monitors end-user devices to detect and respond to cyber threats like ransomware and malware.
- Several staff members will be attending the TCEA educational technology conference. Everyone attending will be required to teach during the BISD LEAD Conference.
- Stephanie Avery is currently in the process of researching the application requirements for a Distance Learning and Telemedicine grant offered by the US Department of Agriculture for Rural Development. In collaboration with another Instructional Technology Specialist from Sam Rayburn ISD, this partnership aims to enhance classroom learning opportunities, with a specific focus on technology resources for teaching and learning. The primary objective for both schools involved is to provide innovative resources and enhance learning experiences for both staff and students. Bonham would oversee the Finley-Oates campus while also acting as the fiscal agent for both parties.
