A Note from Mrs. Tapscott
Conscious Discipline
Hillcrest Elementary School is on a journey to become a Conscious Discipline School. What is Conscious Discipline? From the Conscious Discipline website, Conscious Discipline is a proven, comprehensive approach that empowers you with skills that create a safe, connected, problem-solving environment for families. On our journey to learn more about Conscious Discipline we are equipping educators to integrate social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation so they spend less time policing behavior and more time teaching vital life skills.

Celebration!
The Solar Eclipse
A great big thank you to the Hillcrest PTO for purchasing glasses for all of our students and staff. Because of their donation, we were able to view the solar eclipse safely. Our school family had so much fun. Thank you to Mrs. Shemek, our science teacher, for all the of the preparation she put into the big event so our students not only understood what was taking place in our solar system, but she also built excitement in them too! We are thankful to have Mrs. Shemek a part of our school family.
After the solar eclipse concluded the students participated in a SEL celebration because each of our classrooms earned a COMPLIMENT Party. Each student got 'galaxy slime' and enjoyed a special edition solar eclipse Oreo cookie.
Library News
All library books are due April 22nd!
Over the summer, our library and attached offices will get a make over. This space will be receiving new flooring, vibrant colored paint, and new furniture. In order to complete this project in time for the first day of school in the fall, Ms. Blair must have her library completely packed up by the last day of school. Because of this, all library books are due April 22nd. Our students will still be receiving library services, however, they will not be checking out books after this week. If your child wants a book to read, we have lots of books to send home for free--simply let us know!
