News from the Principal- March 1st
Dear Families,
As we approach the end of the quarter 3, I wanted to take a moment to remind you about the significance of this time and your child's academic progress. The end of the quarter marks an important milestone in your child's learning journey. It provides us, as educators, with an opportunity to reflect on their achievements and areas for growth over the past several weeks. It also offers a chance for you as parents and guardians to engage in conversations with your child about their academic performance and goals.
A reminder that all outside tasty treats and beverages need to be enjoy in the designated cafeteria area. By doing so, we'll help maintain a tidy gym that everyone can enjoy activities in, without any worries. So, if you bring in a sweet treat let's make our cafeteria the go-to spot for culinary delights! Together, we can keep our school community vibrant and welcoming.

Soaring Student of the week!
Students at AES have the opportunity to earn recognition for positive behavior during the week. When staff members see great choices being made, students can receive a SOAR slip with specific praise. Every Friday, the names of every student who earned a SOAR slip are read during the morning opening. All student slips are entered into a drawing, and one student is randomly chosen to receive donuts for his or her class.
This week's Soaring Student was Lacy Kinsman from Mrs. McCully's 5th grade class.
Thank you, Daylight Donuts, for partnering with us in this special recognition for our students!
Questions from the Classroom
Preschool: What sound does the letter Ii make? How many Ii's can you find around your house?
Kindergarten: We have been learning how teen numbers are one set of 10 and some extra ones. How many is 16? (One set of 10 and 6 extras). How many is 13? How many is 15?
1st grade: First Grade had a contest between classes today to see if ALL students could tell the month and day of their birthday. Students were reminded and asked several times a day. Today at lunch the contest was on. It was fabulous! Students were helping each other and encouraging each other! What great Phoenix behavior!! The winner was Mrs. Martin's class with 100% (Thanks to help from friends coaching them during the day and at lunch!). It was fun and we will have another contest. ASK your student when their birthday occurs!! Thinking tying shoes....? Please start helping your student with this as we work to help your students have the skills to be successful in the real world!
2nd grade: Solve. 45+19+52. Explain how you got your answer. (116)
3rd grade: Ask your child the difference between area and perimeter (area is the inside and perimeter is the outside) and how to solve each (P - add all sides / A - multiply length and width)
4th grade: How can you compare two fractions with the same numerator and denominator?
5th grade: How do you multiply mixed numbers? (Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions, multiply across, then change your answer back into a mixed number if needed, and simplify)
