As our coaches always say: Just Compete! Regardless if it rains, sleets, or snows. Our 7th/8th grade boys have worked hard all year at doing just that. The 7th grade boys finished 1st place on Monday, March 25th at our district track meet, while our 8th grade finished 4th. We are very proud of our kids for how they competed in every event. Most of all, how our kids represented Pine Tree ISD.
Big shoutout to the coaches on loving/coaching our kids up. Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to the parents for sacrificing the time to allow us to coach your kids inafter-school practices and our 10:30 pm -11pm track meet nights. We Thank You. Go Pirates!
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Students in the 6th grade Art Club visited the Dallas Museum of Art last week. Mr. Mosley, PTJH art teacher, explained many styles of art at the beginning of each exhibit. Students were able to see many impressionist paintings that were on a touring display for the month.
Students attending were Amelia Arnett, Olivia Guerra, Kenley Clardy, Ashly Mojica, Luna Patino, MaryAnn DeJesus, Isabella Deel, Jet Pickard, Conner Moore, and Baylee Gray.
Sixth grade students are planning their schedules for 7th grade and 5th grade students are looking forward to selecting their elective classes for next year.
Middle School is hosting a Book Fair this week and many students are excited to read their new books. Band is also auditioning this week for new students next year. Many students are coming each evening to try out new instruments.
We are looking forward to Monday, April 8 for our eclipse picnic. Our entire campus will watch the eclipse. Middle School students celebrated spring break with a school dance and these fifth grade friends paused for a quick photo.

HIGH SCHOOL
Things are busy at Pine Tree High School as students, faculty and staff roll into April.
Health Sciences teacher Angel Cubine announced seventeen medical students passed the Phlebotomy portion of their training and earned certificates. Mrs. Cubine said the work and the test are very difficult, and she is proud of her students for working hard and earning this accolade.
The students include Vanessa Aguilara, Alex Brace, Nancy Briones, Zoe Elliott, Jalyn Gage, Katherine Garcia, Jalea Gipson, Aleesa Jester, Alyssa Jones, Cheyenne Lohman, Anna Pinkston, Samantha Rangel, Rylee Russell, Chloe Steber, Aaron Thompson, Charlie Wedding and Megan Wolfe.
These students still have several exams to take on different aspects of the medical field. They will be certified in several areas when they complete testing just before school is out, and several of them will use this training to further themselves in the medical field.
UIL Academics is preparing for district meets this week. The team has done well in all of the preliminary meets and is a serious threat to bring home a district championship trophy to PTISD.
Lee Branson, UIL Academic Director and Terri Davis, UIL Sponsor, have done a great job all year leading the team.
Choir and band are competing for trips to state and hope to have a lot of students advance. Choir is also preparing for its annual Pop Show which will be held May 10th. This outstanding concert features group and solo numbers and is, other than the Christmas concert at Trinity Episcopal Church, one of the highlights of the year.
Precision Director Ashlyn Thompson and the Pine Tree Precision recently held tryouts for the 2024-2025 line. This group is preparing a Spring Show which is scheduled for April 26, 27 and 28. Precision members, as well as other dance groups and other acts, will perform on the stage during this extravaganza. It is usually a sold-out show and this year should be no different. Thompson has had her girls reaching new performing heights the entire year, and they are poised to make this show a memorable one for the girls performing and the audience watching.
Baseball, softball, tennis, and golf are in the middle of their seasons, and all are fighting for playoff spots. Each sport has had some outstanding wins but needs to perform in the second half of district to earn those valuable playoff spots. Be sure to support our athletes as they compete each Tuesday and Friday for the remainder of the spring season.
Track is hosting the district meet on this week at Pirate Stadium and they are a threat to send a host of athletes to the regional and state levels.
Seniors are getting excited for graduation, which is just about six weeks away. Senior activities kick into gear in May with graduation on Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at Pirate Stadium.

Our Birch First CEER classes went on an amazing adventure to KidZaniaUSA in Frisco this month. Students were immersed in a realistic indoor city where they had the opportunity to role-play numerous professions earning Kidzos, KidZania currency. They made financial decisions about whether to work and earn more money and how they wanted to spend their earnings.
We had such a great day exploring so many career options and learning how to be financially responsible. We would like to thank our parents/guardians and community members for supporting us in our fundraising endeavors to ensure we were able to have this experience.
AUTHOR VISIT SPONSORED BY U.S. TITLE COMPANY
Our BFF hosted a very special guest, published author Tammi Sauer. Our 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed interactive presentations and hearing one of her books read aloud. Be sure to look for her books at a store near you. Thank you to U.S. Title for making this event happen for our students!
