PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
This past Friday afternoon, students from Bath Tech’s culinary program were at FMS for a 4th grade presentation on lobster. As they were leaving, many of them were saying “thank you for having us” as they went out the door. Just the other day, I held the door open for a student, which ended up with me holding the door open for the entire class. Each and every student, as they entered the building quietly, said thank you. While I often see and hear kids get maligned in the media, on social media and in the community, I believe the kids are awesome. The occasions I just mentioned are not isolated incidents. This is what I see and hear regularly. I just forget to pause and acknowledge it. I remember being somewhere off of Route 50 outside Washington DC. I was probably 9. We were eating at Bob’s Big Boy after a swim meet. I don’t remember the meal. What I do remember is my dad filling out one of the comment cards. He took the time to commend the service, cleanliness and the atmosphere. I remember him saying that it is important to acknowledge the good and not just jump on the bad. In our busy lives it is oftentimes easy to overlook these things. With that, have a great weekend.

Could Your Child Benefit from Mentoring?
When it comes to our children's future, we’re in this together. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick pairs screened positive mentors with youth to create a community where all children achieve success.
We offer school-based mentoring, in which your child is matched with a trained adult volunteer who meets with them weekly at their school for lunch and recess.
We also offer community-based mentoring, in which your child and their Big meet to do fun things together on a schedule that works for them.
All our programs are free!
