📢The Scoop from the Sup'📢
Dear Meade School District Community,
In my last newsletter, I welcomed spring, only to find ourselves surprised by a sudden return of winter weather. It seems nature had its own plans for us! Nevertheless, as we move forward, let's remain hopeful that the chilly weather is behind us, and we can look forward to the many exciting activities lined up for April and May.
As we continue to embrace spring, I'd like to share updates on important events and initiatives within our district. We are excited to announce the School Board has approved the launch of our new Homeschool Connections Program, scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024. This program is designed to foster stronger connections between our district and homeschooling families within our community. To learn more about this exciting opportunity, please join us for an informational meeting on April 23rd at 6:30 PM in Whitewood Elementary School.
Don't forget to save the date for the Staff Retirement & Recognition Reception on May 22nd at 8:00 AM in the Sturgis Brown High School West Gym. This event is our chance to honor the dedication and service of retiring staff members and celebrate the contributions of all our educators. The public is welcome to attend, and we ask you to sign up in advance using the information provided below. Following this celebration, mark your calendars for the upcoming board election on June 4th. This election will determine the individuals who will serve your school district in three three-year terms on the school board. Candidate responses are linked below in the newsletter. Additionally, Mr. Voight was unopposed for the two-year term.
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in our school district. Together, we continue to make a difference in the lives of our students and community.
Mr. Wormstadt
Superintendent
Meade 46-1 School Board

Students, Staff Celebrate Month of the Military Child
Students and staff wore purple on Friday, April 12 to show their support of military children. Purple Up! For Military Kids is a day for Department of Defense Education Activity communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Why purple? Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is a combination of Army green, Marine Red, and Coast Guard, Air Force and Navy blue. The goal of "Purple Up" is for military youth to actually see the support in their school, youth groups and community.
2024-25 Kindergarten Screening/Enrollment

The screenings are for children planning to attend kindergarten in the fall of 2024 as well as for those children up to six years of age.
Parents registering a child for kindergarten will need the child’s immunization records and a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate or affidavit in lieu of the birth certificate as issued by the Department of Health if the original is deemed unattainable. These documents are required by law for every child entering school in South Dakota.
