Kids Heart Challenge
Packets Going Home Monday!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Students at Blair Oaks Intermediate are jumping at the chance to fight heart disease and strokes, our nation’s No. 1 killer for men and women. Over the course of four weeks, February 23 – March 22, students are participating in Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) during physical education class to raise money for the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association funds lifesaving heart and stroke research as well as community and educational programs for our youth.
The Kids Heart Challenge will help students learn how to keep their hearts and brains healthy, get moving with fun activities, meet kids with special hearts and raise funds for the health of all hearts. The need to educate children about the importance of physical activity couldn’t be timelier. According to recent studies, about one-third of children ages 2-19 are overweight and/or obese.
By including physical activity into their daily routines, kids can significantly reduce the onset and burden of heart disease. By raising money through Kids Heart Challenge, we are helping prevent heart disease and obesity for the next generation of Americans. Kids are literally jumping into a heart healthier lifestyle while becoming passionate about raising money for other kids with special hearts.
Students have the opportunity to help The American Heart Association by finding sponsors who are willing to make a donation to support the battle against heart disease. The attached envelope should be used to collect any donations and/or your child may sign up online with your help. Please have your child print an online donation report and place it in the donation envelope along with any other donations. Three quick steps:
Download the AHA Schools app or visit heart.org/Schools to register.
Help your student complete Finn’s Mission.
Raise funds online, check/cash, or both to help kids with special hearts - like Finn.
Students are able to track donations daily on their own webpage, print out a log sheet of donations, and include it with any other donations in the Kids Heart Challenge envelope. Please have your student bring back their envelope to school by Friday, March 22, 2024.
Any student who is able to raise $50 or more in donations will get the opportunity to play dodgeball vs. the staff and sign their name on the new banner we will earn this year. Good Luck!
Your generous support of this program is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Matt Albers
