SAC Committee - Seeking Two New Parent Members at Large for the Committee
School Accountability Committee
The Rock Canyon High School SAC is composed of parents, business leaders and community members from our surrounding area. This committee is charged with advising the Principal and the administration team on decisions that affect stakeholders and the overall culture and climate of Rock Canyon High School. The goal of this committee is to provide input into decisions that foster the highest quality education for the students we serve.
Notice of Election for the SAC
The School Accountability Committee (SAC) for Rock Canyon High School is looking for 2 new members.
- We need two parents at large for the committee. If you are interested in joining this committee, then please send an email to SBurnside@DCSDK12.org with a copy of your bio that will be shared community wide once we send out the voting document.
- Please note this is a 2-year commitment. The RC SAC may meet as frequently as once a month for two hours. Meeting time and dates will be selected once we have elected new members.
- Deadline for submission is May 7, 2024 with a community vote the following week.
SAC Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Advising the principal concerning the preparation of the school's Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).
- Making recommendations to the principal concerning priorities for spending school funds.
- Helping school staff increase parent partnerships with teachers, fostering the parents' role in creating student READ plans as well as addressing habitual truancy.
- Helping school staff increase the level of overall parent engagement with the school.
- Assisting the district in implementing, at the school level, the district's Parent and Family Engagement Policy.
- Working to recruit people to serve on the School Accountability Committee.
- Meeting at least quarterly to discuss whether school leadership, personnel, and infrastructure are advancing or impeding implementation of the school's improvement plan.
In schools on Priority Improvement or Turnaround status, the SAC is also responsible for:
- Publicizing and holding a SAC meeting to discuss strategies to include in a school Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan, and using this input to make recommendations to the local school board concerning preparation of the school Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan prior to the plan being written.
- Publicizing the district's public hearing to review the school's written Priority Improvement or Turnaround plan.
