Hello, Parkwood Families!
Happy March! I am so happy that spring is right around the corner. It seems we have avoided many major weather issues this winter and hopefully that will continue for the next few weeks.
We have many activities and events scheduled throughout the month of March. The month of March focuses on the Character Education Pillar: Fairness. Being a fair person means you treat people in a way that does not favor one person over another. At Parkwood, we celebrate fairness by looking for opportunities to include others, listening to our friend's thoughts and ideas and congratulating others when they do well. We look forward to a fantastic start to our last quarter of the 23-24 school year. Third Quarter Report Cards will come home on Friday, March 15.
Now that warm weather is right around the corner, please encourage your child to take a look in the lost and found if they are missing items of clothing, water bottles or lunch boxes.
Thank you for sharing your lovely children with us!
Sincerely,
Sue Bamford
Great Things Are Happening at Parkwood!
Shine Award - Ella Heidenrich
Caring
Ella demonstrates the caring pillar by helping others in and out of the classroom. Ella always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She is encouraging, and wants to see everyone succeed. If someone is hurt Ella is the first one to check on her friends and make sure they’re okay.
Ella is a friend to all, and plays with everyone and invites others to play along with her. She has a vibrant personality that people want to be around. She gives compliments and makes her peers feel good about themselves. She accepts everyone, no matter their differences.
Responsible
Ella is responsible. Ella’s after school schedule fluctuates. She always knows where she is supposed to be. I know if I send her on an errand, she will go to the destination and return promptly. Ella always has her materials ready for instruction. She does her best on assignments and asks questions for clarification. She turns in assignments on time. Ella knows what the expectations are at Parkwood and makes sure she is following the rules.

Read-A-Thon
Students have done a great job logging minutes and donations during our Read-a-thon! We have met our goal to purchase a Book Vending Machine for Parkwood! We are so excited for this addition and we have raised enough to buy the books for it! Our Read-A-Thon ends on Monday, March 11. We appreciate all your support!

Ohio State Tests
Spring is fast approaching and we are beginning to plan for state testing. The 3rd-5th graders will be participating in the Ohio State Tests in April, shortly after spring break. During this time of the year, it is important for your child to have a healthy breakfast and plenty of sleep. When students are well fed and well rested, they are more able to handle the rigors and stress of the tests. As we shared last month, the dates for the tests are shown below to help with planning. It is very helpful if your child can be in school every day their class is testing. There are make-up dates for those who are sick but students do their best in their familiar classroom with their regular teacher. We encourage all students to make every effort to be in attendance during these dates unless they are sick.
