Message from Principal, Adam Mitchell
It's already April!?!
As we creep up on the end of the year, I would encourage families to begin making plans now on how to finish the school year on a positive note. One way that your student can do that is to utilize our Flex time to the best of their ability. First, and foremost, attending Flex every Tuesday and Thursday is the best way to utilize that time, regardless of what academic support may be needed. In addition to academic support sessions and subject-specific study halls, our Flex time has club meetings, enjoyable activity sessions, and class meetings during that time. Each Flex time has something for every student, please encourage them to take advantage of that time in their day!
If you have not already, please take a few minutes to complete the Parent / Caregiver Experience Survey at this link: Sherwood School District – Parent / Caregiver Experience Survey. See below for more information
Have a great weekend and Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

Sherwood High School Tardy Policy
Being on time to class is very important at Sherwood High School. It is our expectation that students enter the classroom before the start of class or they will be marked "Tardy.” The spirit of this policy is to decrease the number of students being late to class which results in lost learning time.
The school will NOT penalize students for being late due to appointments. When a student is coming back from an appointment they need to check-in with the attendance office so they are not marked absent and to receive a pass to class.
Tardies will be tracked Friday-Thursday. The consequences for tardies are:
5 or more tardies Friday-Thursday: Lunch Detention
If tardy concerns continue, additional consequences (such as Community Service) and support will be implemented.
Tardies reset every Friday. Detention is assigned for the following week.
Sherwood High School Skip Policy
It is an expectation that students attend all classes that they are assigned to, including Flex and Homeroom. If a student is observed not in class and does not have a pre-arranged reason to miss class, they will be marked as a Skip and assigned lunch detention for the following week.
The Skip count is tracked Friday-Thursday and resets every Friday.
Failure to attend the assigned lunch detention could result in the assignment of Community Service on Wednesday's from 2:30-3:30 during early release.
Student Fees
As we approach Prom season and the end of the school year, it is a good time to check your student's account for any outstanding fees. Juniors and Seniors wishing to attend Prom must have all their fees paid in order to purchase tickets. Account statements will be sent directly to families in the next few days, but fees can always be checked in StudentVUE and ParentVUE. Fees can be paid with cash or check at the Bookkeeper window before school, during lunches, and after school. If you wish to use a credit card to pay fees, you can do so through StudentVUE and ParentVUE (there is a small fee).
Girls State Opportunity for Current Juniors
Our local AFW Women's Auxiliary has offered to sponsor the participation fees for two SHS juniors for Girls State this summer.
Female high school students who have completed their junior year are competitively selected and sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary units for this program, where they learn about the political process by electing officials for all levels of state government and actively running a mock government. The girls are assigned to mock cities and either the “Federalist Party” or “Nationalist Party.” Candidates should be keenly interested in government and current events, and show strong leadership abilities.
Girls State will be held at Oregon State University, June 23rd-29th 2024. Applicants will be responsible for their own travel to and from the event.
If your student is interested in applying for this program, please have them talk to their school counselor by April 30th.
