Girls’ Summit on Saturday, March 9 at Northwood High School
MCPS will host a Girls’ Summit on Saturday, March 9 at Northwood High School. This event for students and their parents/caregivers will offer education, resources and activities centered around young women’s health.
The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., will offer workshops on healthy relationships, healthy eating and body image, and self-esteem, among others. This event is targeted to young women in 6th through 12th grades. It will offer a chance to network, participate in fun activities, learn valuable skills and enjoy a fashion show presented by White House Black Market celebrating diverse body types.
Student Service Learning (SSL) hours will be available. Northwood is located at 919 University Blvd. West in Silver Spring.

Long Branch STORES NEXT DOOR
Stores Next Door is an annual gathering of Long Branch community members under the roof of the Long Branch Community Center! We welcome you to attend!
The local restaurants of Long Branch will feature their food and drinks for free! We will have activities for families of the Long Branch community to suggest improvements to the commercial area.

For middle and high school female students
The Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women will host “A Virtual Career Exploration for Her,” a free virtual career guidance session for middle and high school female students from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
The Zoom event is free, but registration is required. Register here. Students completing a brief survey at the event's conclusion can earn two hours of student service-learning (SSL) hours.
The event will offer an opportunity for middle and high school female students to begin exploring careers of their interest and that are non-traditional for women.
Panel discussions will look at careers ranging from fire services, STEM careers, the law and entrepreneurship, and they will give students the opportunity to hear from professional women who will share their experiences, knowledge and education.
Winter Reading Challenge
This winter, Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) and the Washington Wizards challenge you to read! The Wizards have teamed up with MCPL to invite your family to stay active and engaged with the Washington Wizards Winter Reading Challenge.
School-aged children and teens can sign up and earn badges that encourage reading for pleasure, joining interactive events, sharing and connecting with the library community, and finding fun ways to be physically active.
Those who finish the program by earning the Reading badge and at least two other badges will receive a prize, available at your local library while supplies last. Lucky raffle winners will receive 2 tickets to the April 12, 2024 Wizards game.
This challenge is a great way to find healthy habits that your family will love and can add to your routine all year round.
Participating is easy:
- Sign up (or log in) online.
- (Optional) Print a Washington Wizards Winter Reading Challenge game board ( English (PDF) or Spanish (PDF) ) at home or pick one up at your local library- Long Branch Library!
- Earn the Reading badge and at least 2 other badges from January 3 - March 20 to complete the Challenge.
- Visit Long Branch Library to pick up your prize while supplies last.

Hello! We’re Food Justice DMV, a group of volunteers that delivers food, diapers, and other essentials.
We deliver to families in DC, and towns in Maryland and Virginia that are within 45 minutes of DC.
You should complete this form every time you need help.
We try to help as quickly as we can, but we have many families on our list, so it can take several weeks to get a delivery, and we can only deliver to each family once every 1-2 months.
Your information is kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone.

Youth Cruiser SmarTrip Cards
Rolling Terrace students can complete an application form to receive a Youth Cruiser SmarTrip card.
Parents can ask in the main office for their application
All student riders use the Youth Cruiser card for free rides on RideOn and MetroBus
- The Youth Cruiser SmarTrip® card is for Montgomery County residents ages 5 to 18 (older if still in high school).
- Use this card to participate in the Kids Ride Free program.
- Stored value can be added to the card for usage on
- Metrobuses
- Metrorail
- Other transit agencies that accept SmarTrip® cards
If your student is not at Rolling Terrace, encourage them to ask the main office at their school how to apply.

Does your student need a chromebook to use at home?
The chromebook will be delivered to the student at school. The chromebook should be taken home and keep the chromebook at home for the school year. Do not bring the chromebook to school because we have chromebooks here at Rolling Terrace for all students to use in the classroom.

You can schedule your appointment by calling the number below.
