2nd and 3rd grade students will take IREAD starting Tuesday, March 5. It is scheduled to be completed on March 6. However, the test is untimed this year, and students may need an extra day. Please note the testing dates and times. Your child needs to be here at the scheduled time to give them the best opportunity for success. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER OR LEAVE ONCE TESTING IS STARTED. Please ensure your child is on time.
Supporting Your Child Before State Testing: Home Strategies for Success
State testing can be a stressful time for both children and families. Here are some strategies you can use at home to help your child feel prepared and confident on testing day:
Creating a Supportive Environment:
- Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive and encouraging attitude towards the test. Convey confidence in your child's abilities and avoid placing undue pressure on them.
- Sleep and Nutrition: Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep before the test and eats a healthy breakfast on the morning of the test. Both are essential for optimal cognitive function.
- Minimize Stress: Create a calm and organized environment in the days leading up to the test. Limit distractions like screen time and prioritize relaxation activities like reading or spending time outdoors.
Test Day Logistics:
- Plan Ahead: Lay out clothes, supplies (pencils, eraser, calculator), and any necessary paperwork the night before. This avoids last-minute scrambling and reduces morning stress.
- Be on Time: Allow ample time for travel and getting settled in at the testing location. Arriving early helps ease anxiety and ensures your child doesn't miss any critical instructions.
Remember:
- The goal is to support your child's well-being and encourage their natural ability to succeed.
- Focus on the process of learning and development, not just the test score.
- Open communication and positive reinforcement are key to helping your child feel confident and prepared on testing day.
Attendance
When you call the attendance line to report a student's absence, please include why the child is absent, or it will be marked as unexcused.
STEM in our School
From Mrs. Dodd
Second graders built a tower to hold an orange. They were competing on whose orange could get the highest off the table with only the supplies given. Fifth graders competed by building a design that would suspend a cup in the air. The challenge was to see who could hold the most magnets with the materials given. I was amazed at how strong their builds were, and I actually ran out of magnets with some.

๐ Weekly Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Braves of the Week
2nd Grade: Ryleigh Starkey
Ryleigh was nominated for Brave of the Week because she is a very polite and hardworking student. Ryleigh always has a friendly smile for everyone she meets. She goes out of her way to help others, including her teacher. Ryleigh is truly an example of Brave Behavior. I am so proud of all sheโs accomplished this year.
3rd Grade: Hailynn Kleinrichert
Hailynn is well deserving of this honor. She comes to school each day ready and eager to learn. Her smile lights up the classroom. Hailynn is sweet, caring, polite, respectful, and hard-working. She has put forth a great deal of effort this school year, and it shows in her academic growth thus far. I am beyond proud of her and canโt wait to see what the remainder of the school year brings for her. Keep up the excellent work.
4th Grade: Kael Rosenow
Kael is a great kid who keeps us all guessing what he will do next. He is always willing to give a helping hand when needed. Kael also often gives our class a different point of view about the things we are doing. We are so lucky to have him in our class this year.
5th Grade: Andrew Jordan
Andrew is a valuable member of our classroom. He respects teachers and peers and always strives to do his best. He participates in class and always has something interesting to bring into discussions. He is also very responsible and always prepared. Andrew has been a role model in our classroom this year. I am very excited to see how he continues to grow this year and in the future! Way to go, Andrew!
