Music in Our Schools
On Thursday, March 14, we had some very special visitors come to Lothrop today to make beautiful music with us. Mr. Roberts and Mr. Westcott brought their students from Otter Valley to our school, and Mr. Plotts brought his students from Barstow. We gathered together to celebrate music! March is Music in Our Schools Month. The purpose of Music ii Our Schools Month is to emphasize the importance of music education, and advocate for all children to have access to music in school. Amazing things happen everyday in our school music rooms! This year, the theme of Music in our Schools Month is “I see music.” We had about 89 instrumentalists performing from all three schools in our band, and 75 vocalists in our choir!
VTCAP Testing Schedule
The schedule for the upcoming VTCAP test is listed below for grades third through 6th. Please make sure your child is well rested and fed in anticipation on their day of testing. Thank you!
RNESU (Lothrop) Family Trip Attendance Request
Your child’s attendance is crucial to their success in school. We understand that not all family experiences can be scheduled during normal school vacations. Given that, please be aware of the attendance procedures listed below when considering scheduling a family vacation outside of the normal school vacation times.
A maximum of ten (10) cumulative lawful absences verified by parental notification may be permitted during a school year. All absences beyond ten (10) cumulative days shall require official documentation.
Should your child accumulate more than 10 lawful absences we will ask for doctor’s documentation, a conversation with the nurse that results in an excused absence or other official documentation as approved by the school for future absences. Absences without medical documentation or approved by the school will be considered unexcused.
Please contact your school principal with any questions or concerns in reference to this matter.

Girls on the Run 2024 Information
Every Girls on the Run season, volunteer coaches foster empathy and acceptance by empowering participants to build strong connections with one another, regardless of their backgrounds, abilities, or beliefs. Throughout the program, girls learn to appreciate the beauty of diversity and grow into compassionate, understanding, and open-minded individuals. Become a GOTR coach at Lothrop School and play a vital role in developing these positive relationships.
Our 10-week season begins the week of March 18 and culminates on June 8th with a celebratory 5K event!. Our team will meet twice weekly for 90 minutes each session to connect, move, learn and have FUN! No running or coaching experience is required. Coaches are provided with comprehensive training, a curriculum that maps out each session, supplies and support from GOTRVT for an enriching season. Programs are for girls in 3rd-8th grade.
Visit gotrvt.org/coach to learn more or sign up to volunteer. Questions? Contact GOTRVT at anne@girlsontherunvermont.org or 802-871-5664.
