Join the GLOBE community for a visit to New Black Wall St.
We look forward to everyone in our GLOBE community visiting the New Black Wall Street this Sunday in Stonecrest, GA, between 3–5pm. There will be a fun tour where you can learn about the story of the original Black Wall Street in Tulsa and how its history has been rebuilt here in Atlanta. There are tons of great vendors on-site that serve a variety of food options. A great way to connect with other GLOBE families and friends and to celebrate Black History Month. View the flyer for details.
We need your help!
If you would like to help decorate at Upper Campus for Black History Month and/or at New Black Wall Street in Stonecrest, GA, for Sunday's GLOBE community visit, please sign up here.
Wonderful Wednesdays
Our sincere thanks to the PTCC for this month’s delicious Wonderful Wednesday. In celebration of the Lunar New Year, PTCC delivered Chinese food to both campuses today for teachers and staff to enjoy. Wonderful Wednesday is one of the initiatives made possible by the PTCC Auction.
Admissions
If you have a yard sign, please return it to the front office at either campus. Thank you so much for your help during admissions season.

Read Across America Day
Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be celebrating Read Across America Day on March 4. In the past, we've celebrated across two days, but this year the parade and dress-up will all take place on the same day.
Students may also choose to bring or donate a book about a child with exceptionalities. Find sixty-plus books here. We hope to add to current classroom libraries so they can be even more robust and reflective of our diverse community. Reading diverse and inclusive books in the months to come might help your student find a book that has people with whom they identify. You might even find one here. Looking for more book recommendations by theme? Click here!
Author Brendan Wenzel to visit on Thursday, April 25
Author/illustrator Brendan Wenzel will be visiting Lower Campus on Thursday, April 25 to talk with our kindergarten and first grade students about his new book, Two Together. If you would like to order a signed copy of Brendan’s books, They All Saw a Cat, Inside Cat, or Two Together, please complete this order form.
Wear red, green, yellow and black on Fridays
On Fridays throughout February, we’re asking the GLOBE community to wear red, green, yellow, black, or a Black-history themed t-shirt. Please remember that students must be in uniform during the remainder of the week. If required, you can refresh your memory of our uniform policy here.

Black History Month Spirit Week
Spirit Week continues at UC this week. Download the flyer for details.
Dress Down days to raise money for 8th grade trip to Savannah
On the dates listed below, a parent will be collecting $1 donations at the doors. In return for a donation, students will receive a wristband. Funds collected will go towards the end of year 8th grade trip to Savannah. Collection dates: March 7 | March 14 | March 21 | March 28 | April 11.
Celebratory parade in the hallways
UC held a parade and a mini drum-line last week to celebrate the recent successes of our students, including the winter sports teams, the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl middle school team, and Science Fair district winners. Students stood at their classroom doors to cheer them on. Click here to watch a short video clip.
Black History Month door decorations
Hallway decorations continue to grow. Each door represents an outstanding piece of art, song, literature, visual or performing artist or writer from a specific time period. Once complete, they will represent “A Timeline through the Arts”, from the 1920’s to today.
Connections
4th and 5th grade students have been doing some blind scribble drawings in art class to learn about chance and spontaneous ideas in art making, as well as practicing loosening up wrist and arm muscles in drawing.

Summer Language Camp 2024
GLOBE will have its Summer Language Camp from June 10 to June 28, 2024. Participating students will benefit from a playful environment to pursue their language learning and increase their fluency. Teachers and TAs will have all kinds of activities where students will stay in the language for three consecutive hours. There will be art and cultural activities, sports, and games that will help students become familiarized with different countries where the language is spoken.
Upcoming Kindergarten and rising students from 1st through 5th grade are welcome to attend. We can't wait to see all of our GLOBE trotters! Click here for further information.

Exceptional Children’s Week - March 4–7
PTCC is happy to partner with GLOBE to celebrate Exceptional Children’s Week. The theme for this year is “CREST Embraces Everyone.” Here are a few initiatives we hope your family will consider supporting:
PTCC donated books highlighting people with exceptionalities to all English classrooms. Watch for opportunities to participate in mystery reader activities in your child’s classroom.
Create a poster with your student(s) celebrating a person with exceptionalities by March 4th. Once you complete it and send it to the school, it will be displayed in a classroom or hallway. Projects will be accepted any day during Exceptional Children's Week; simply send them to school with your child.
PTCC is also helping to coordinate and sponsor staff Professional Development, which will focus on best practices to support children with exceptionalities.
