Dear Sward Families,

December is always a very busy time of the year for Sward. We have lots of fun activities planned including winter concerts, class parties, holiday shopping experiences, assemblies, spirit weeks, and so much more! Please make sure to check your child's Take Home Tuesday folder every week and refer back to The Eagle Express to stay in the know for important dates and information.

SWARD is Recognized by the State of Illinois as EXEMPLARY

A big congratulations is very well deserved to our amazing Sward teachers, students, and families. Last Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate all K-12 public schools in Illinois. This year Sward received the highest designation status of “Exemplary”', awarded to Illinois Schools performing in the top 10% of all schools within the state. We are very proud of our achievement at Sward and hope to continue to lead the state in performance!

Chorus Members

We'd like to thank and congratulate those in the Sward Chorus who sang for the SANTA ON THE GREEN event this past Saturday.

The Sward Chorus has been INVITED TO SING ONCE AGAIN this

FRIDAY NIGHT at Hometown's Tree Lighting Event. Chorus students should arrive at 6:45 pm. Ms. Glikis with send home information on specific directions and location of the event and meeting place.

PTA Meeting Tomorrow, 12/6/23

Sward Holiday Gift Shop

This year, the Sward PTA is inviting you and your children to participate in an upcoming

"Holiday Gift Shop" program at Sward school. This program makes it possible for children

to experience the joy of choosing their own special holiday gifts for family and friends. The

"Holiday Gift Shop'' program will be set up for the children to view during the school day on

December 15th, where they can make notes of gift ideas and costs for various family

members. The PTA encourages families to return later that evening, along with cash or check

only, to help the shopping experience run smoothly. Please CLICK HERE for more information

Early Arrivals

Student supervision for arrival time begins at 8:10 A.M. Safety is always our #1 priority at Sward, because there is not supervision for students who arrive earlier than 8:10 A.M. I ask that you please refrain from having students get to school prior to 8:10 A.M. unless they have a morning club to attend or are ordering a school breakfast.

Coat Weather

Our students love their recess time where they are able to run around and enjoy being outside with their peers. Please make sure your child has a coat and is dressed appropriately for the weather to ensure their warmth during recess.

Sward Family Night w/The Chicago Wolves

Join Sward families and friends for a night of fun at a Chicago Wolves hockey game on February 17th. All attendees will receive a FREE Chicago Wolves knit hat and be seated together in the same section. Please CLICK HERE for more information.

Please remind your children that their phones and smart watches need to be off and away during school hours.
