Superintendent's Update
Welcome back Cadets!
I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break week and returned to school safely today. It was good that daylight savings went into effect during spring break. This allowed everyone the time to adjust to the spring forward.
This week, our students are back in the full swing of spring activities. Connally ISD will host a junior high track meet this evening at MacPeoples Stadium. The temperatures are expected to dip quickly this evening, so if you plan to come to support our young athletes, please bring a jacket. The temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s before the night is over.
Our softball and baseball teams will be busy again this week. The softball team will begin district play this week against the Robinson Rockets. They will play the Rockets at home on Tuesday and at Robinson on Friday. The JV softball team will also play in the Crawford Tournament beginning on Thursday. The baseball team will play their final pre-district game against Bosqueville at home tomorrow. They will start district play next week.
As if tomorrow was not already a busy day, the One Act Play cast and crew will host a public performance at 6:00 p.m. The title of their play is Epic Proportions. This is a hysterical play filled with lots of laughs. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door with cash, check, or online at chstheatre.ludus.com. This will be their final public performance before they compete in the Bi-District OAP competition on Thursday, March 21st, at Burnet High School. The competition will begin at 1:00, with each play running for approximately 40 minutes. If you plan to attend the competition, please plan to be there by 5:15 in the event they are running ahead of schedule. Audience members are not allowed to enter a performance in progress.
The Connally ISD Bond web page is up and running! You will find a link to the bond website at the bottom of this page and on the Connally ISD webpage. In addition to the general bond information, you can access the tax calculator under the Tax Information link to calculate how much your taxes are projected to increase for the full year. You would divide this amount by the 12 months to calculate the monthly impact of the projected tax increase. If you are a homeowner and are unsure of your appraised value, you can click on the Find Your Homestead Appraised Value and enter your address. There is also a link to a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page. If you have a question that is not answered on the FAQ page, please email it to info@connally.org. Be on the lookout for more information to come your way soon!
The city of Lacy Lakeview asked that we share some information on the dos and don’ts of what can go down the drain when you are washing your vehicle, changing the oil, or simply mowing your grass. I have attached the information below for you to review. Let’s work together to protect the future of our water resources.
Next Monday, March 25, 2024 will be the monthly meeting for the CISD board of trustees. There will be a special meeting at 6:15 to review the annual ISD report card. The regular meeting will begin at 6:30.
Have a great week Cadets!
