Germantown Sings - April 9th
Musical Notes
Dear 5th Grade Families,
Your child has been working hard in music class to prepare for an upcoming concert. This concert, Germantown Sings! is a special performance that includes a grade level from each Germantown elementary school and choirs from Kennedy Middle School and Germantown High School. This concert allows your child to see some of the musical opportunities available to them as they progress through the district, meets their curriculum standard of performing, and provides them a unique opportunity to sing with such a large number of people! This year’s theme is Movie Music.
The concert is on Tuesday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the Germantown High School Fieldhouse. Doors open at 6:30. Students should arrive by 6:45 p.m. At that time they can get in their spot on the bleachers. If you arrive early, you will need to supervise your child until then. Students should stay off the bleachers prior to 6:45. Parking will be challenging due to the number of people attending and performing. Please allow enough time to find a spot and to walk to the fieldhouse from it. Students will wear either Rockfield spirit wear or blue/yellow on top and clean pants/jeans/leggings.
Students will have a rehearsal on the morning of April 9th. They will be bussed from Rockfield to the high school. We will rehearse from 9:30-10:30 and then return to Rockfield.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me jmcconnell@gsdwi.org.
Thank you!
Jamie McConnell

Notes From the Principal
We are excited to focus on Courage this month! One way to think about Courage is “choosing what is helpful, right, and kind even when it is hard or scary.” Courage is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.

Notes from the health room
Hello Rockfield families!
We are very excited to welcome spring and the warmer temps that come along with it! As we all know, Wisconsin weather can be wonderful, yet unpredictable. With that being said, we ask that snow clothing be taken home and that students stay mindful when dressing for school. We go outside for recess 2x a day unless it is below zero with the windchill or there is steady rain. Students also need to wear a jacket outdoors until temps reach 50 degrees. Having an extra clothing is great to have at school as well in the event that it is muddy or wet on the playground.
With warmer weather, allergies are also on the rise. If your child/children have allergies or any other type of illness, injury or health condition that we need to know about please send me an email so we have that documented in skyward. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well and/or have a temp over 100, diarrhea, an uncontrollable cough, thick mucus/very runny nose or has vomited in the past 24 hours. They may return 24 hours after symptoms have subsided without the use of medication.
Medication that needs to be taken at school must be brought in by the students guardian and the proper form must be filled out by the parent and/or doctor if it is a prescription. This includes cough drops, eye drops and all over the counter medication. The medication form must state the same instructions and dosage as the prescription label. https://5il.co/rphd https://5il.co/rphe

RITEWAY BUS COMPANY - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please be advised of the following changes/updates from Riteway Bus Company.
- ADDING/REMOVING A STUDENT TO A ROUTE:
- If a family wants their student to begin or stop taking the bus they must notify Riteway (262)677-3282.
- STUDENT DROP OFF CHANGE:
- If a family needs to change the drop off location (i.e. student now going to daycare) a special transportation form needs to be completed, returned to the school office, and signed by Dr. Croatt. The signed form will be emailed to Riteway and Riteway will confirm and/or deny the request.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON SAME BUS BUT GETTING OFF AT A DIFFERENT STOP:
- Students going home on the same bus but getting off at a different stop need a note signed by their parent/guardian so the school and the driver are aware of the change.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON A DIFFERENT BUS:
- This is ONLY allowed in the event of a family emergency and will ONLY be on an as needed basis. A note/email/phone call should be sent by the parent regarding the emergency so that the school and Riteway are aware of the situation and can convey what route and classmate the student will go home with for that evening.
